Never on a phone before have I noticed when I switch towers, the calls will often drop out or if I'm out of range for 10 seconds, it will take 2-3 minutes to come back in to range, I will often have to switch the phone on/off.

In saying that, everything else, I love the phone its amazing. Hopefully iphone 4.0 will improve the actual phone part

Don't know if thats a phone or carrier issue. I've done lengthy drives whilst talking on the phone and only really get dropouts in tunnels.

Having said that if it does go out of range takes a while to come back

The phone goes out of range far too often. At random times it will suddenly say no service or searching when I know I'm in range. I've had the drop out problem as well.

Also found when I was at the Dome on Sunday I had full bars yet couldn't load anything on the net or load Footy scores.

Yeah I get this problem, even at AAMI

I think it struggles when you are with large numbers on the same tower all trying to use their phones at the same time (ie. the mid game breaks)

Weird how it says it has full reception but you just can't load anything.

Even at AAMI? What do you mean even at AAMI? It's that far out of the city it may as well be in the hills, or maybe they're closer :p

How are people backing up there contact with Windows Vista and 7 ?
I have previously done them to a .WAB file on XP, now that file type is no longer available.

.csv ?
.vcf ?

Is it easy to restore should i loose the phone ?

Any advice would be great as i like to back the phone up every couple of months!

I found it easiest through Gmail. Mostly because I was using the beta of Office 10 at the time, and therefore not compatible to sync contacts with iTunes.

Gmail worked flawlessly though.

Pretty sure its done automatically when you Sync your iPhone (does messages too).

I had my iPhone replaced (speaker blew up) and all i did was reconnect my iPhone, it asked was it new or restore from backup, click backup and presto. Was like a never replaced it - expect the speaker worked :D

White one anyone?

I like the all white. Found the 3G white stupid how it was still black at the front. All white is much better, although the all black gives the impession the screen is borderless, and right to the edge.

I'm sure everyone that cares already knows but the conference where the new iPhone is going to be announced is happening in the early hours of tomorrow morning.

boring, we already know about the new iPhone :D

in all seriousness, i hope that the 2 "lost iPhones" were a publicity stunt, would make fools out of alot of people!

I'll be up again. Will post any relevant sht that gets posted on the live blogs.

If only stupid Apple would allow Live Video

Lots of talk about the iPad and app development, and hey, what's that, iPhone 4 being introduced now.

Yey!

And the leaks were spot on.

Same design.

The seems are still there though

And the bottom base screws.

24% thinner than the 3GS

Explanation for the visible seems.

"This doesn't look like Apple... what are these lines? They are part of the primary structural elements of the phone... this is part of brilliant engineering. It uses the band as part of the antenna system!"

Haha, a nice failure for iPhone 4. Steve tried to load up the NYT website to compare for the RD feature, and iPhone 4 didn't want to load anything on the page, and then an error popped up.

10:45AM IPS technology -- "Quite a bit better than OLED."

10:44AM 800:1 contrast ration, 4x better than the 3GS

10:44AM Bang! 960 x 640 display

It has 78% of the amount of pixels the iPad has.
