Because we've been able to make the batter bigger and because the A4 is so good, we've improved the battery life. 7 hours of 3G talk, 6 hours of 3G browsing, 10 hours of WiFi browsing, 10 hours of video, 40 hours of music..."

And 300 hours standby

Internals

New feature

"Number four, we have another new piece of hardware. We're adding a gyroscope."

Hard to tell how this works, as he is doing a live demo, so still shots don't help.

And we are getting a new camera system.
Now everybody loves to talk about megapixels, but we tend to ask the question how do we make better pictures? Megapixels are nice, but what these cameras are really about is capturing photons and low light photography. So we've gone from 3 megapixel to 5 megapixel, but we're using a backside illuminated sensor."

A better sensor and more mpixels :thumbsu:

In addition to that, when most people increase megapixels they make them smaller, but we've kept ours the same size. They don't capture less photons. 5x digital zoom, tap to focus, and we've got an LED flash."

And some ****ing good news

10:57AM "We pioneered tap to focus, and we now have it for video... and we have one click sharing... and the LED flash will stay on for video recording. You can record, edit, and then with a few taps email it right on the phone."

10:56AM 720p at 30fps!

10:56AM "So we're really happy. We think we have a great camera. But that's not all... because it also records HD video."

HD video :D

With an native editting app
"Thanks very much. I've been doing this a long time. This year I had a chance to work on iMovie for iPhone, and it's one of the most exciting apps I've ever worked on. It's really amazing."

Apparently the 720p looks incredible.

iMovie will be $4.99 USD

New feature number 6 is iPhone OS4, but it's gettin a new name .....

iOS 4

Juts showing the stuff we have already seen.

Wow, allowing Microsoft in.

"I wanted to hit on the enterprise stuff. Data protection, device management, multiple Exchange accounts... and on the consumer side, we have Google search and Yahoo!, and we're adding Bing."

They're calling it FaceTime. Only wifi (in 2010, have to work with carriers, probably meaning we will never get this, or very delayed, like Visual voicemail), and only iPhone 4 to 4.

Wow, a name not starting with 'i'

And it seems like it is not just restricted to the front facing camera. It can flip to the back one too.

2 colours. Standard black and the all white

apple-wwdc-2010-388-rm-eng.jpg

"Pricing -- there's two colors. White and black. Pricing -- $199 for 16GB, $299 for 32GB."

And 3GS drops to $99

****.

Only US, UK, France, Germany and Japan get it June 24.

Another 18 countries in July.

I would have loved a June release. Less than 3 weeks away.

All devices get free upgrades to iOS 4. Including Touch models. June 21st is the release date.

There is going to be a Dock and a case, called a Bunker. Variety of colours and $29.

As sblack said

iOS4 - June 21
iPhone 4 - July 18

I'm excited! Just wish the new iPhone was all silver, rather than silver with black or white.

Release dates could be worse. Some countries have to wait until August and September. Hopefully in future Australia will be added to the initial rollout.

One persistent negative though. The PIM apps continue to suck. Contacts and Calendar are embarassingly barren of features.

I have seen some reports that said July 18, but I really cannot find absolute proof that it is the 18th. I think some people hve been confused by the fact that in July, 18 countries will get the iPhone 4. So no, I can't confirm when in July as yet.

Hey guys, the other day my iPhone (which I have insured) fell and screen became scratched. Should the phone require replacement, which I highly doubt, should I wait until it is released to make my claim? Or would they just replace it with another 3G?

Not a huge fan of the new look.

I'm more curious about the drops to the 3Gs price. The apple store has already dropped the 32GB to $879 and the 16GB to $799.

Apparently they'll release an 8GB 3Gs.

I know the new features are pretty good, but I'm still glad I bought my iPhone 3 months ago.
