Awesome news, just signed my contract an hour ago - no lines for me tonight / tomorrow, just rock up to my local T-Life store and i'm good :)
But if you signed today (29th) then I'm thinking you're not eligible for that deal. It does say from 30th July - 1st Nov

From what I can see, the $49 Telstra plans are now very competitive, as is the $79 plan for the 16GB. Personally I don't like the fact that Telstra only offers one plan < $79, as I usually like to go on a $49 or $59 plan. Perhaps they should offer plans at $39, $59, $79 and $99.

And don't forget that Telstra bill per 30 seconds where Voda/Three charge per minute. Anyone know what Optus does?

A question..
If I get a iPhone 4 on a $49 cap with Voda/3 and 1.5GB of data and I use the internet in a 'roaming' area, does it simply take the data usage out of that 1.5GB at the higher rate or do I get straight out charged extra?
I believe you get straight out charged extra which sucks. :(

Optus is the same as Voda

35c flagfall
90c / min

Advice to all. Keep an eye on your call and data usage (inc. non-cap spend) by downloading the app Consume (currently free). Can also monitor home internet, home phone, frequent flyer, myki, citylink, etc

If you get Telstra, you might want to do it through JB Hi-Fi. They're offering JB gift vouchers if you do it through them ($100-$200 depending on the plan and whether you're an existing Telstra customer).

When did the iPhone 3GS typically sell out at stores does anyone know?
Wondering if I'll still be able to get my hands on one if I head into the local shopping centre at around 10am tomorrow..

Check out whirlpool forums, it seems those Telstra/Optus/Vodafone stores are only getting a handful each. I'd head into an Apple store if possible.

Well my local centre is Doncaster so it has Telstra/3/Voda all opening at midnight and Apple opening at 8am. Hmmmm, decisions decisions. I just can't be bothered having to wait another month if they sell out of all stock.

100% head to the Apple store, they will be getting the most stock, other wise you'll most likely have to wait since other smaller Optus/ T-Life stores are getting low amounts or missing out all together.

Otherwise order online!

Nah it's been signed, just the bloke working there hasn't officially processed it and won't until tomorrow morning so he doesn't get in trouble; will def get the 500mb.

BTW - Those with certain Telstra home phone plans may be eligible for a $10 a month discount on the iPhone plans and if you've got certain other bundles you can get up to $20 a month off your plan.

Is 500mb enough? I reckon I'd be able to go over that very easily. What are the charges like after you go over the allowed data.

I think I will just stick with 3 mobile who I am currently with, on the $49 cap. Gives me 1.25 GB and free calls to all 3/Voda phone users, who I have a lot of mates/family with.

Don't believe that, could you imagine someone waiting hours to be told some other person who registered would be given priority? Plus i'm sure there were thousands that registered. Some T-Life stores were taking a "pre-order" list but those who got their names on it won't be given any preferential treatment.

25 cents per MB.

I've got Wifi at home and there are heaps of Telstra Wifi hotspots in the CBD (where i'm at a lot due to uni) so there won't be too much need for heaps of data for me but I can see others blowing their data very quickly.

Does anyone know what the unlimited part of the optus deals means?

Im looking at the $99 deal and Im confused. What's the call rate for these one? Is it still the 90 cents/ no flagfall.

What about the unlimited included value?

I called up for clarification and it is unlimited(free) calls to any optus phone.

I hope no one is planning on walking into a shop and just buying an iPhone 4.

I know for a fact that most stores for the company I work for have received less than 5 handsets total.

They will be gone within 10 minutes and most would already have been allocated to someone yesterday.

Hmm, why would they only stock in 5 handsets, seems a bit strange for opening day. I might just wonder down anyway and try my luck.

If you've registered online with optus for one, you will have first priority over others. Well that's what they told me...

I was in the city at 9pm and there were hundreds of people lined up at the Optus store, not so many across the road at the Telstra shop. I spoke to a guy working at the city Optus store and he said that those that have queued up will get an iPhone before online pre-orders.

It was madness! I couldn't believe there were so many people. I spoke to the guy that was at the very front of the queue and asked him what time he got there. He said 5:30 AM

FFS these people are idiots, it's just an iPod Touch with phone features it not like it's Grand Final Tickets.

Most of these people probably already have an iPhone 3GS.

Although I guess another win for Apple marketing.
