Ah, fanbois. Where would we be without them?

Oh, BTW: Careful with app store passwords. "Dadd-dee... your apps need updating, can you sign in?"

Forgot that it keeps logged in and only drops after 15 mins inactivity. I now have all sorts of apps that I don't use but have inadvertently paid for...

Start of the line. It went all the way up Bourke, turned into Russell and past the Greater Union cinemas. This was just after 9pm. Surely the store doesn't have enough iPhones for all these people.

So is it first come first serve tomorrow for optus?

FFS these people are idiots, it's just an iPod Touch with phone features it not like it's Grand Final Tickets.

Most of these people probably already have an iPhone 3GS.

Although I guess another win for Apple marketing.

Haha! I said the exact same thing as you. :thumbsu:

The only event i'd ever be willing to stand in line for hours on end is for Grand Final Tickets.

These people are absolute nutjobs of the highest order. What is their reasoning? The phones aren't going to run out in the long term, nor is it a once in a lifetime opportunity, so how does that justify waiting, what, 10-15 hours in line for a piece of technology that is likely to be superseded in the space of 12 months. These people need lives. Hilarious! :D

I'm guessing a vast majority of these people lined up already have a 3G iPhone already, and given there is only a handful of improvements (software wise, excluding the resolution) in the iPhone 4, why the need to sacrifice your time to lineup? I could perhaps somewhat understand if you didn't own an iPhone previously, but even then you're still going to get the same deal regardless of whether you line up or wait and buy it on another day.

FWIW, i'll be getting an iPhone 4 (my first iPhone), but am willing to wait if need be. :thumbsu:

Yeah, I am hoping there isnt a line at our shop tomorrow morning.

We received four iPhones to sell.

Two have been claimed by staff (such as myself) and one is a demo.

That's right, we have one iPhone to sell to the masses tomorrow.

Good luck rocking up and getting one.

You can thank Apple for that :)

I'm gonna rock up to my local Apple store tomorrow at like 7:30.

Line before 6 is pointless, as the store is inside the centre which doesn't open till 6:30 I think.

Would be good to get there just as doors open, and run past everyone already lined up. Too lazy to get up that early though :p

ha what a bunch of knobs. Hope it started raining in the city :D

Mate told me the line had started as early as 6pm. w***ers.

I'm about tio give up on the Three website. If it doesn't load properly in the next 5 minutes I'll wait and buy the handset outright and unlocked from Apple directly.

Was a little earlier than that (see below). And I wouldn't be staying with Three. Go to Voda if you don't go Telstra/Optus, Three is dead.

I was in the city at 9pm and there were hundreds of people lined up at the Optus store, not so many across the road at the Telstra shop. I spoke to a guy working at the city Optus store and he said that those that have queued up will get an iPhone before online pre-orders.

It was madness! I couldn't believe there were so many people. I spoke to the guy that was at the very front of the queue and asked him what time he got there. He said 5:30 AM

I missed out on getting one this morning by 1 person. Horror morning. Got to Westfield about 5:10am, line already 20 deep. Store opened at 6, they tell us you have to hav registered online, which I did. Next thing they tell us, you have to have a copy of that registration on you. Yeh, mine was gone in the deleted emails. So I had to stand in the unregistered line.

Thing is, the person who got the last one, I was in front of that person, just didn't have that form that they never mentioned to print out.

Having gone to Optus Geelong, they had 18 on hand, Corio had 6 and their line was 200 long. They didn't open till 9.

So I waited till about quarter to 7 to register.

rant over!! :)

I got one :)

Came into work early so I could sort it out before people rushed in.

We sold out as soon as we opened the door.

Only had one to sell, the rest went to people who work here haha.

Have already told around 50 people we are sold out.

I will have one in maybe 2 hours. Been in line for roughly 30 minutes.

The outright queue where I am is 300 strong and has been since probably 730 from reports.

Few questions for those who have already bought it
1. Did you get the free bumper immediately or do you have to claim it through Apple (Also state whether you got it at the Apple store or other)
2. Any issues with the 'death grip'?

My Apple store has no physical accesories in store. And the bumper app that orders one for free is not yet live in Australia. So not many bumpers going around.

Talk is death grip is all hype and no substance. Whirlpool has no complainers and Apple staff said they have tried everything and no loss of signal.

I reckon the death grip is more an iPhone/AT&T issue than an iPhone issue.

Verizon should get the iPhone in January 2011 so the death grip will be soon forgotten.

Went to JB Hi Fi South Wharf and was second in line at 10am. Got the last of two 32GB numbers and got a $200 gift voucher to boot, which I invested into a Time Machine to back up the Macs in the house for $199 extra.

I got lucky (assuming you discount the 2 hours standing around for the choked system to do anything).

Now I just gotta hope the sync goes smoothly...

Only problem I'm having is downloading OS4.0.1 from iTunes, gets to the last 100kb, download stalls and the connection times out. Been trying to death-grip the sh*t out of it, with no success.

edit: success finally (after 3 attempts) with the OS update. And we're in business, word.

Were you the bloke in the roos jumper by any chance??

Got my phone after a massive wait of 40 mins - local T-Life store FTW.......all was good until I made a call,....no ****ing sound.

Called Apple and they agreed with me, hardware failure :( Speaker broken, had to send it back to Apple and now i'm stuck with some shitty Razr v2 from Telstra as a temporary phone; at least I've gotten free credit for it.
