Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
The Cellular Data needs to be so you can leave 3G on, but have Roaming, Edge etc. off. This would mean you wouldn't be charged for surfing the net when you enter roaming. This is what I understand
Enable 3G - OFF
Cellular Data - OFF
No internet connection possible. Can make/receive calls/SMS as usual, but not MMS.
Enable 3G - ON
Cellular Data - OFF
Same as above, the ON setting for 3G is redundant in this instance as Cellular Data is OFF.
Enable 3G - OFF
Cellular Data - ON
Can connect to the internet, but only using EDGE/GPRS, no 3G connections. MMS now available.
Enable 3G - ON
Cellular Data - ON
Internet available via 3G/EDGE/GPRS.

Hey, I hear it's the luck of the draw. I thought with the new 3GS ones it would be better but, whatever.Sorry for your bad experience, seems like you got a lemon.
If you can get it exchanged with a refurb, hopefully that's the end of your problems.
An iPhone is not the bees knees but it sure craps on anything running Windows Mobile.
I recently got an iphone on ebay from the states... It is advertised as unlocked and when i put my current sim in it doesn't say that it doesn't recognise it or anything.. But it says no service... any idea how to set this up so that it works for me? Does it mean its not unlocked, do i have the wrong sim? its is an iphone 3g, and on my old phone there was always the 3g under the signal strength so I assumed that i had a 3g sim?
Have you plugged it into your computer and run the itunes startup process?
If you have, all I can say is that it sounds like when my sim was disconnected after I came back from OS. Does your SIM work in another phone?
I have trying to sort it out for about 7 hours now!! its doing my head in!!
I plugged it into the computer and it told me my itunes needed to be a different version, so i removed the old one, put the new one on.. and when i plugged in the iphone i got a message about the sim not being supported....
Yeah it does work in other phones.. I have taken it out of my current phone which I have never had an issue with..
I am thinking that it is not unlocked as was meant to be...
I have stuffed up my iPhone 3GS big time. I jailbroke it about 3 weeks ago with Spirit. Went to update it at my mates house last Friday and it stopped halfway and didn't go further. I tried everything to fix it and then I found out about this SHSH stuff. I DIDNT save it. Do you think that 3 or Apple will repair or give me a new one?
I think you have "bricked" it. Give these simple instructions a go. Hopefully it works. I luckily haven't had this happen to me yet.
Seems a little simple but give it a go anyway.
- Plug your iphone into the computer
- Then reset the iphone by holding the home and power button at the same time
- Keep holding them down until you see the reboot screen, but do not let go as yet
- Keep holding it down until the next thing you see is the restore screen where you’ll see the iTunes logo and the USB cable on your iphone screen
- And at that point you’ll be connected to your iTunes and restore to your last backup
*EDIT - How the hell do I get rid of that tipping thing in the side bar? I haven't even entered tips all year??
You're doing pretty well for not putting in a tip all year tbhI think you have "bricked" it. Give these simple instructions a go. Hopefully it works. I luckily haven't had this happen to me yet.
