The problem is that you can't listen to footy streams via MMM (or any other other footy broadcasting station) as the AFL has barred it. To listen to footy streams you either need to do it via the AFL site, or enter this URL in a media player:
mms://wm9.streaming.telstra.com/ucs-wh_afl0live3

Hence why I'm looking for a media player app that allows you to enter URLs. Does TuneIn Radio allow that? If not can you recommend a player that does?

Also, can you advise how to install Installous? Thx! iphone newbie here :)

FStream is the best I have found. Listening to the Melbourne - Richmond match right now.

I still try to avoid being a total parasite and do buy some apps from the App Store if its a great app and isn't taking the piss on price. Otherwise, Installous it is.

Haven't Jail breaked my iPhone 4 yet. Not sure if I will.

**** that

the side button fell off my phone, and the cover i had for it had scratched the back up (it was off ebay) then when i went to get it fixed they said i had to pay $300 or something even though it was only 6 months old, then they said i would have to pay regardless of what goes wrong with it in future.

apple can suck it im getting the apps for free.

So I just got my iPhone 4 and I've jailbreaked it and downloaded installous.
So when I try to download something in installous I search for it then go 'download', then I choose one of the other options besides the 'launch app store' one?

You realise that 99 percent of those apps are made by independent developers right? Not Apple.

Your argument is akin to stealing petrol from your local servo because your car dealer ripped you off on your last service. ;)

apple would get a large cut of it

If you're thinking about using your phone to listen to an internet stream at the game, it wouldn't work. Internet streams would be about 30 seconds behind live play.
I don't live in Oz so that shouldn't be a problem. Would just like the freedom to to able to listen to games online from anywhere in the world via my phone.

Are you sure? listening to the Saints game on SEN using TuneIn right now.
OK, I'll give it a whirl.
And to install Installous. Jailbreak if you already haven't, and then use the instructions in my post about 3 above this.
Your first instruction in that post says
Goto Manange, then Sources

Where do I find Manage on the phone? The Search function came back empty. Sorry dude, iPhone novice here, I feel like Homer.
To start press any key. "Where's the any key?"

Sorry. What TBD said below.

You do that in the Cydia app that is installed as part of the Jail Breaking process.

Once Jailbroken, Cydia is only visible evidence of the Jailbreak. It is the underground AppStore. If something gets rejected from the official AppStore, you will most likely see it on Cydia soon after. When Google Voice was rejected from Apple, they put it on Cydia.

Once inside Cydia, or Rock (which I prefer), you navigate to the Manage tab, and then my instructions kick in.

This as well. I have bought many apps before, but I feel, for example $12.99 is too much for an EA game. I happily paid the $6.99 for 'Real Racing'. It is priced perfectly for it's incredible quality. EA games, not so much. Most game in the $1.99 - $6.99 range I will buy if they are worth it.

I also felt $89.99 is too much for TomTom :p

I still haven't updated my iPhone 3G since the blackrain jailbreak. It took nearly 10 tries to get this jailbreak to finally work, so I'm gonna leave it for a while. I've got all the stuff I need anyway, so what is the point? May look at getting an iPhone 4 when my contract expires at the end of the year, but there is no rush.

Once you open an application, how do you close so that it doesn't remain in memory anymore?
e.g: if I'm in Safari on a certain website, say BF, and then I press the home button to launch another app, say Messages, then the next time I open Safari it's still on BF, which leads me to believe that Safari is still running. Can it be closed?

Is there a way to see which apps are currently open and running in memory?

Giving my old 3G to my girlfriend.

Can someone confirm if I install 4.0.1 on there and then go to the above link that it will safely jail break it?

did this yesterday

4.0.1 is quite slow on the 3G, so avoid upgrading it to that if you can (if you haven't all ready)

i restored my jailbroken 3.1.3 to unjailbroken 3.1.3, then rejailbroke with jailbreakme and ultrasn0w'd it to unlock. worked a treat.

This works on my 3GS on 4.0.1 so I'd imagine it'd be the same.

* Double tap the home button, you'll see a list of apps running (this is for multitasking without exiting apps).
* Hold one app as if you would to make them shake so you could move/delete them etc.
* You will see a small red dot with '-' in it, tap that and the app will close.

Perfect, thanks

Got the iPhone 4 also and it's my first iPhone. Wondering how I can get rid of a notification (red dot thingo with the number on it) from different icons on the home screen?
Atm, the 'App Store' icon has 1 because there is an angry birds update available - however I can't download it because I got the game through Installous.. there is also a 1 next to 'Cydia' which I think is due to the fact that 'this device has a pending TSS request'..
Can I remove these 'notifications'?

Pretty sure you can update the apps. I know I can update Installous apps through iTunes on my PC. Probably the same thing will happen on the iPhone itself.

The Cydia one would be a legitimate update. I never had a Notification for my pending request.
