My iPhone4 battery is fine. Get way more life out of it than I did with my 3G.

Same here.

Although one issue I've had - a week or so after getting my iP4, the volume adjustment on the headset mic stopped working (can still pause songs, etc) and I realised that, during a call, whilst I can hear the caller, they cannot hear me.

I've tried with a couple of different headsets, same result.

Tried restoring, and a few dicky fixes suggested for similar issues online. But haven't got to the bottom of it, nor found anything useful by way of Google.

Any suggestions? I'd really prefer not to send it back if possible.

Does anyone know of a good software or app that allows you to load your sms messages from your phone to the computer.

I currently have the tipard iphone manager for sms and that isn't working so far. Currently in talks with the support team coz It has issues when connecting the iphone to the computer, then the program crashes.

I've also tried iBackupbot for itunes which essentially opens up your synced backup from itunes and shows it word for word. Can download messages as a db, txt or csv.

Anything on the actual iphone such as an app?

"avoid the SMS missing or the full SMS box before iPhone reject receiving new SMS"
Tipard iPhone Manager for SMS is the valuable iPhone SMS Manager for you to copy, backup and manage iPhone SMS to avoid the SMS missing or the full SMS Box before iPhone reject receiving new SMS. You can directly copy iPhone SMS to computer as .txt files without any loss. Backup current iPhone SMS to local defaulted folder.

Moreover, with this iPhone SMS Manager, you can delete your selected messages that you do not need on the backup files. You can define the specific path for the copied files. The backup files can be input in the defaulted folder automatically.

Key Functions:

1. Copy iPhone SMS files to local disk
You can directly copy all the SMS or just choose the specific message of the specific contact.

2. Backup current SMS to computer
You can backup all the SMS on the iPhone device at the time at the default folder.

3. Delete the SMS on the backup files
Directly all the SMS or your selected SMS that you do not need on the backup files.

iOS 4.1 is out, supposedly has performance fixes for iPhone 3G, anyone try it out yet?
Only for Devs. Release next Wednesday apparently.

sickk. do you know when the jb will be released sblack?
Dev Team haven't released anything yet. If they haven't said anything by the official release, try not to update until they say it is OK. Sometimes when you upgrade the Bootrom (something inside the phone software), it screws up potential JB options.

Probably within a week they will release an update on where they are though. If they get the betas, which they probably do, then they probably have an idea on how long it will be.

It shouldn't update unless you tell it to. It may download it, which is fine. But it wouldn't restore your iPhone without an option to choose. Too risky if people don't backup, then it auto restores and people lose everything. Would be a nightmare for Apple.

iTunes 10 is out. I like the new interface with album views and groupings. The new program icon is terrible, though.

Yeah the old CD logo was getting horribly outdated but to replace it with this horrible thing is just weird for a company of Apples standard. Not really sure who would approve such a thing.

Also if anyone is absolutely desperate to install 4.1 you can actually install the GM released to the Dev's. Here is a link to a site giving you the links to the different versions.

Uhh hows that work?

New nano looks sick btw, might buy one just to clip on while running.

I like it too, but I hope it didn't have anything to do with frying my laptop earlier this arvo.

When I opened up iTunes, it began downloading this massively large download that I began yesterday, but didn't have time to finish. Didn't have time to do it today either, so I clicked 'pause', then committed the apparently cardinal sin of stopping the automatic synch (mid-synch). Laptop just froze in this weird grey hue, and stayed like that.

Being the complete techno-**** that I am, I had no other option but to bundle it up & take it to the local computer repair shop. They're normally pretty good there, but the tech guy's groans when i told him what I had done didn't inspire much confidence.

Is it truly such a monumental atrocity stopping the synch midway through, or was this tech guy just being melodramatic? Phone is fine BTW, but the laptop he says will take 2 days min, so god knows much coin I'll be up for.

Surprised a sync even had an affect on the pc. Tried force shutting down, restarting(that is holding down the power button for 5-8secs before it shuts down completely?)

Na, i didnt. I turned it off & on (many times) but not that force method. Knew i should have come & asked you blokes before taking it to the shop.

Oh well, am at the mercy of the repair guy now:(

I am new to the iPhone world but got the iPhone 4 on Monday and am fairly sure I have a dodgy battery. I have push notifications, wifi and service location turned off yet I am lucky to get 9 hours of use out of it. In fact in the time it took me to load up Safari and go to this thread the battery has dropped from 64% to 59%. Anyone had an issue similar to this? And would it most likely be dodgy battery?

sounds odd. what telco you with? do you roam a lot? how's your brightness setting? did you fully drain your battery the first couple times before you recharged?

With Telstra. I also close all background apps. Brightness is at default. Haven't noticed it roaming tbh. Yeah drained it completely before I charged it first. The other night it was fully charged when I went to bed and when I woke up it was down to 90%. It just lost another 2% writing thismessage on it. Would I need to go to a genius bar or take it back to Telstra?

What is the right amount of usage before it dies?

At the moment I'm on 54 misn usage
7 hours 17 mins standby

battery is at 84%

Is that normal? I'd post on whirlpool but it seems most people aren't getting a response

Cheers
