The thing I like about the IPL is that it gives zero fu*ks to reputation and ignores washed up players, no matter how big they're.

The teams hire top analysts from around the world and they employ so much filters to ignore unsuitable players and go by the latest trend in the T20 game. Hetmyer seemed to be the hottest property right now and no surprise RCB pounced on him.

Thought that Hales and Guptill would have been picked up.

Good for Hetmyer.

Woakes is a surprise too

Very hard for international spinners to get sold, generally there are enough local spinners to do a job.

Yes, hottest property are generally pace bowling all rounders and specialist pacers in the IPL. Because it's a rare commodity in India.

Plenty of domestic talent in India, so apart from the big hitters, pretty hard for international bats too. Spinners are the most difficult to be bought, plenty of spinners in India. So only the absolute top like Rashid Khan get bought.

Also availability is a big thing. It's why the Australian's will struggle as there are camps this year around the time of the tournament. As a spinner you have to be something very special.

Bummer for Khawaja, Holder and Mathews. They are unsold

Sam Curren got paid

To no surprise no B'Desh and SL players getting sold.

Think this year's IPL happens in South Africa as it coincides with the general elections.

So expect plenty of Saffers to be picked.

Every year, teams indulge in a fierce bidding war for some new guy and he ends up getting bought for much more money than expected.

Sam Curran is that guy this year. Personally think he isn't worth that money he's been bought for. More a test player than a LOI specialist. Would rather have his older brother Tom Curran in my t20 team.

Performing against India helps. If you followed the India - England series earlier in the year you'll realize Sam Curran single handedly wrenched the series away from India and ensured that the 4th innings chase ran out of steam before India got close.

Will he be useful in T20s in the sub-continent on spin friendly wickets though? That remains to be seen.
