Stoinis came back in for Delhi (from injury) and played the sort of innings we all fear he will in the World Cup, 18 (23). Admittedly the pitch didn’t bounce.
Once he gets some more games in, I think he'll be alright.

Problem with stoinis is he either a dot, 4 or 6 type batsman.

He needs to show more intent on rotating the strike early on. There is too much blocking. I wish players go back and look at how mike hussey constructed an innings. He would look for quick singles, 2s or 3s early on to get himself settled so when he hit the accelerator his strike rate was at 85-90.

I dont know if it was a coincidence or not but despite having one of our best one day batting averages from 2017-2019. We actually won more games when he failed with the bat then when he got to 40 and kicked on it didn't help the result.

50 from faf. Shame he's not playing in the wc. Same with abdv, especially considering its in the same location as the ipl...

Clearly still good enough. This is a big time knock

Sneaky chance to score a 100

Didn’t see much of the strike in the last couple of overs but still an awesome innings in a big final.

Hefty total from Chennai to put themselves on top but that last over pulled things back a tad and this deck looks a belter so let’s see what KKR can put up in reply

yep, big drop from dhoni just now. kkr have chased 190+ in ipl finals and won. Once was against csk and other against punjab, history on their side.

CSK fielder catches it, given out. 3rd ump checks replay and ball has hit spider cam wiring so it's called a dead ball. Crazy.

Yeah you see stuff like that happening plus the Dhoni dropped catch earlier (it was dying on him but he probably takes that 49 times out of 50) and you start thinking maybe it’s Kolkata’s night. Excellent catch from Jadeja just now though to remove the dangerous Iyer

Edit: and now Rana joins him. Can’t afford to lose wickets in a hurry when the asking rate is already 11 an over

Agreed, plus one of the KKR batters is injured too. Gill needs to stay in but increase his SR too. CSK ahead again. They're missing Andre Russell, he could've been the difference tonight. Narine out, it was always going to be hit or miss with him.

Another Jadeja special to remove him too. Had to stop instantly right on the rope and still maintain his balance… made it look ridiculously easy

^ list of retained players for the IPL, and the big names that were released. Some interesting names that were not kept around, including Rashid (SRH), Faf (CSK), Rahul (KXIP), Rabada (DD).

And then I read these articles, that complain that there are not enough Aussies retained in the IPL, and I laugh at it. And the one Aussie player that is kept, has always struggled to find an exact spot in the Aussie side, whilst at RCB, Maxwell is able to play with the freedom behind the likes of Kohli and ABdV

Also, the article's criticizes the fact that Maxwell's contract has gone down slightly, when he's earning the maximum he can possibly earn as a 2nd retention behind Kohli at RCB. Plus, he probably would not have got this opportunity had ABdV not just retired.
Warner had "fallen out of favour" with SRH during the first part of the IPL season, had he was already on his way out of the franchise in May. The decision had nothing to do with the T20WC
And Hazelwood is unfortunately for him, not in CSK's top four players. Of course he's not going to get 1 of a possible 4 spots.

Yep, it would be a bit weird to completely retire from one of the forms of the sport where you are actually performing in, when you consider the way his Test career has been going the last few years.

This year has been poor but last year he only played in 3 tests, so it's hard to judge him on 2020. It's an over-reaction on Kohli's form in tests imo.
