Looks like this comp is seriously taking off I mean 1 billion dollars for TV rights paid by Sony etc. And just by thew huge amount of interest on this board, it's going to be awesome seeing great players competing against each other. I think Warne will play for Mumbai as Sachin and him are great friends?

I like to think this auction is gonna be a bit like The Price Is Right.

Lot #74 Simon Katich
Chennai - Pass
Mumbai - Pass
Kolkata - $130,000
Hyderabad - $130,001

Hyderabad wins!

BTW - it's a slight Family Guy reference.

It seems like you've missed out on the auction part. Typically in an auction bidders can bid more than once.

Could have something to do with Fleming being in India while the tournement is on where as Hussey and Symonds will be in Pakistan.

Hasn't teh Pakistan tour been pushed back a couple of months?

Anyone know the status of players like Hopes and Watson in this event? Given that Katich is in the frame, it'd be hard to imagine why these two all-rounders wouldn't be in the frame as well...

They both either did not get offers or did not sign.

It would be the last thing Watson needs IMO. Imagine if he broke down again over there.

Only been pushed back a few weeks. Australian players will be in Pakistan when the IPL begins and in the West Indies when it finishes no time to cash in.

However some players may boycott the Pakistan series because of Security concerns.

it shouldn't affect warne, mcgrath, langer, gilchrist and even white and probably even d hussey and katich.

it may mean ponting, hayden, m hussey, symonds, lee may miss a fair bit of it. bracken may play a few games in the IPL especially if he's only required for odi's for australia.

Actually after speaking with him about a month ago I asked Watson about this. He basically said that he didn't see the point in playing a stack of 20/20's, when he can play in England in the County Cricket scene and get more cricket. He basically said, he was more interested in getting match fitness through playing County matches rather than a 20/20 hit and giggle thing whereby becuase he is coming back from injury, he thought it was too big a risk. So you will see him playing in England. As for Hopes, no idea, although you would say when the invitations came out he wasn't in the ODI side.

Ah ok thanks for that. i'm hoping he come to Hants instead of that uncommited German traitor Herr Varne. We've been in talks apparently, very successful player for us (150 in a cup qtr final) and scored a great 200, even as a batsman he'd slot nicely into our lineup

Yes, whoever asked, no Englishman were invited because of the County Season starting. A few joined the ICL, luckily those (Read and Slanky included) can never play for England again well they've as much chance as me anyway

when does this kick off and when will we know results?

I think it's at 3:30pm AEDT

I think they said that Sony who have the overall media rights are the only ones allowed in the auction room, and they will take 4 cameras for which they will edit together highlight packages and release them as seen fit. It sounds like the overall auction could take quite a while as I remember reading someone say they hope 'it is finished sometime today'.

First prize to anyone who can find a commentary/highlights package of the auction first.

No dramas, I'll ask him in the next few days which side he is likely to play for, as I have to go to Queensland anyway, and they will be training, so I will pop in. I speak to Watson regularly about heaps of things. He may look arrogant, but have a chat with him and he is one of the nicest blokes around. Loves a beer too! I would assume Hamps would be in the race for him- he'll probally play the first part of the season as a batsman, but is looking to be able to bowl fully in about 6 weeks.
