It appears that the Indian players are more sought after as well because of marketing appeal. Also Batsmen, All-rounders and keepers will go for plenty more than pure bowlers because of the nature of the format (T20).

HOLY COW. Dhoni at 1.5 mil... leaves crap all for Chennai to spend on other players, however maybe it's a tactical thing. They get a gun keeper + gun bowler + gun batsman and then they stack up on the cheapies who could b bargains- seriously, Cameron White is better than Fleming and Fleming is like 3 times as much as White. Who knows, they might just be wanting marketable players. I will Harbhajan with any Aussie player will seriously be one to watch.

I guess so. Other stories have referred to the key Indian stars receiving 15% more than the $450k for Warne or $425k for Shoaib. All those articles refer to those prices as salaries and the overall spend as a 'salary cap'.

Sangakarra should go for around a mil. There aren't that many quality keepers around and Sangakarra, while also a keeper is one of the best batsman in the world. McGrath played in the one off 20/20 for NSW and didn't look too shabby. Should go for around the same as SK Warne. Kumble might attract a bit since he might be marketable in India, Yousef should go for quite a bit as well... has been one of the best batsman in the world these few years. Turbinator... who knows. I doubt Jayasuriya will get much. Puts in a good innings once in a year. 200k at best.

As a Chennai fan, i'm stoked to get Dhoni and Murali, but most of our salary cap is gone now ...

I say try for an all-rounder now. A Pathan, Hopes or even Jacob Oram would be excellent.
