Supposed camera, microphone, bigger screen and bigger sizes are what I've heard
bigger screen? that would make the thing too big IMO, considering the screen takes up the whole thing already...
Got one the other day.

Is it necessary to register it?
what do you mean? Do you mean with itunes store? It only takes a couple of minutes, and means you can download stuff form itunes store, incl apps.

Sorry to sound like a noob guys, Ive just never bought into the whole 'ipod' craze, but now days the value seem to be a lot better than when they first came out.

my $49 2gb mp3 player has served me well for over 3 years.

Am finally caving in and have decided to get one, the itouch seems like the value is high and there is finally a 64GB one, wont bother getting the iphone, until they drop in price considerably in a few years.

Anyway, a question on the newer models, what are they like with transferring files?

Can you now just copy+paste files onto them now, are all my torrent files going to work fine?

Do they play all types of files? eg divx?

Ive googled things like this, but am sick of reading things that were posted 2 years ago.

I just won $600 in poker and have been looking at getting an itouch for a few weeks now, is it a good time to buy, ie, are there newer/better ones coming out soon?

Cheers guys.

Unfortunatly, you can't just copy and paste. You're whole ipod library has to be put into itunes which then goes onto your ipod so you would have to change files to mp3/mp4 to put them on.

I dont want to some corporation knowing how much music ive got!

ipod = FAIL.

Sorry to bump this but I am getting an ipod touch - just a question that I have about the wi-fi. I should have no issue getting internet access at home or at free hotspots like Maccas. My question is what to do when I don't have a free wi-fi network nearby.

I noticed Telstra and Virgin have 'portable wi-fi', which is a dongle thing by the looks of it, that would work similar to broadband dongles. To anyone with a Touch, would this solve my problem? I just want to know if it works or not, so I don't waste money. Thanks BF members!

Most of the mobile internet carriers sell mobile wireless hotspot devices. Basically a mobile receiver that transmits a wireless signal that can be used by surrounding wireless devices as an internet connection.

If you have one of the newer smartphones like the samsung galaxys, they can also act as a mobile hotspot that you can tether a touch to

Mad bump! I'm waiting for the iPod refresh in September and might get an 8GB 4th or 5th Gen Touch, just to jailbreak and do some development work with.

But yeah, look at your tethering options.

Okay, broke my iPod Touch a couple of weeks ago, here's the extent of the damage:

How much would this cost to fix, and where? The metal corner does seem fractionally bent compared to the other side...

Oh god. I have a 4 year old 2nd Gen touch that's fallen a metre+ high regularly onto concrete, off my bed, into the sink, on tile, metal... basically everything. It still works fine besides the volume button.

I want to upgrade in the next year or so but the new ones are that delicate?!

To answer your questions, is it covered under your warranty from Apple or the retailer? I think mine was only for manufacturing faults, but yours may be different. Apple replaces them for a fee I think. Not cheap.

Okay, they do have it on there for $199.

Aren't there iPod repair stores around Melbourne? It works but little bits of the glass keep falling out and I'm concerned about the inside of the iPod being visible and prone to more damage - I'm pretty careless.

Oh, and ssfc - I've dropped my iPod on my floor plenty of times, mostly off my bed, which is polished concrete. Just scratches on the back. This one was at school, from about a metre high onto rougher concrete. Knew it was going to crack as soon as I dropped it...

If you get it fixed/replaced, get a silicone cover for it with nice thick edges, new ones are still fragile.

Mate has an iphone that looks 10 times worse than that. Bits of glass falling out. Even cut his ear while on a call once :D
