Superb hundred by Najibullah at the end there, well deserved considering the slowness and spin friendly nature of the pitch. Afghanistan in a strong position now.

Scored 75 today so that'll buy him another 10 ODIs

Despite running out Hazratullah when he was on his way to another positive innings and going at a very low S/R haha ...

Typical Afghanistan, Ireland had them on the ropes before an immense lower order partnership lifted them to the likely unreachable target of 256 (given the Afghani bowling attack).

Typical Ireland in that sense too.

But Balbirnie has pulled out a ripper innings, with assistance from Dockrell, to guide them to victory.

For the life of me I cannot understand how Ashgar Afghan is in Afghanistan's best 11, let alone the captain. The only plausible answer is internal politics.

He must've read this post or something. 54 in this match.

This match feels like it could be a repeat of the last - Afghanistan recovering to a decent total after being 6/81.

Yeah, he made me look very silly there! Good for Afghanistan.

Awful batting performance by Afghanistan in this match, doesn't help that Asghar wants to change 3-5 players in the line up in every match. Total lack of urgency in general.

The second test for both countries is coming up, will be interesting to see how it plays out after a tight fought ODI series. Would expect the Afghans to come in a lot more confident than their first go of it last year and while the Irish were pretty impressive against the Pakistanis - the home conditions were certainly conducive to their sides strength of its seam attack and mitigated it's weakness of facing spin. Not really sure why but feel Ireland will be up for this one.
