Irrelevant jobs

It’s also incredibly unionised and workers are very protected. On the spot sacking is near impossible.

Also the people that do the breatho and whatnot aren’t perfect and can be part of it or mates with those that are and fudge results.

Criticism of performance often leads to fraudulent workers comp claims - there would be literally thousands of mining company employees across the nation sitting in their gunts at home doing nothing on 6 figure salaries.

My dad is a career miner that has endured long periods of being out of work or having to find work in other industries and he’s old enough, mature enough, and honest enough to admit it’s a tough job that asked a lot sometimes regarding time away from family but it can also be a comfy gig long term that pays generously enough to make up for it and that nobody should complain about the opportunities to be in the industry.

Definitely not a view shared by vast majority of the rest.

Mortgage broker is an excellent nomination. Literally exists because of people's laziness to do their own research and learning, or due to people just being too dumb to figure out stuff.

When the missus and I were buying a place, everyone and I mean everyone, were constantly asking us if we had a broker. No we ****ing didn't because we're not idiots with numbers. Didn't need one, never used one, and were perfectly fine.

It’s a useless job that only serves people lucky enough to be good looking. Models actually work. These people get deals to just carry on their life as they were on social media.

Society would be better off without it.

It's not useless though. They're marketing a product to an audience. I see what you're saying, I just don't agree with it. I think everyone uses the best of their natural abilities, whether that's being smart, hot, strong, etc.

Well it’s irrelevant.

It’s worse way of doing something and if it didn’t exist, people would return to doing things the old way at absolutely no loss.

I have a broker. His time costs me nothing. Every time I want to apply for a loan or refinance etc. his office sorts it all out and I sign some papers and that's that. Something needs sorting out and they have the ear of a relationship manager at the bank. Meanwhile every time I've had to deal with a bank over the years I've wanted to self harm.

Yep, I'm with you. I switched from a bank to a broker and would never go back.

Not as simple as rates and fees either.

Banks are all over the shop with what hoops they want you to jump through these days. I could research all of them, or I could just talk to someone who deals with them every day and knows the latest.

Personally I think anyone who makes money mostly via taking advantage of information asymmetry generally doesn't add much to society

Car salesmen, real estate agents, brokers, traders, etc.

There's too much legal shit tied up with property ownership to make real estate agents irrelevant unfortunately.

Most jobs at minesites. I know a bloke on quarter of a million. 2 weeks on 2 off 2 on 3 off roster for Chevron. Literally does nothing but sort out parts in a giant shipping container and enters them into a spreadsheet. This takes only a few days so he spends the rest of it on his computer in the office on fishing forums. When Covid hit Chevron sent most contractors and many of their own workers packing because they just weren’t required to keep the place going, and now they’ve gone they don’t need them back. The level of productivity in Australian mines is lower than in 1970. Literally billions still being spent for no reason on so many workers not required that do nothing and have no accountability. It’s staggering. Blokes that haven’t been to site in months, years even, because of their leave entitlements, taking the absolute piss. The mess of health and safety bureaucracy is also another great factor behind this gross inefficiency. Yet despite this, alcoholism and drug use is rife. So is prostitution. It is common for workers to get blind drunk yet turn up to work the next door and are allowed to jump on machinery, no testing done.
Nice story, could have used a vampire though.

Nothing a conveyancer can't handle. Real estate agents generate their profit by exploiting information not available to one or both parties in the transaction.

It's a parasitic perversion of market dynamics, and hopefully someone will eventually create an app that makes them redundant.

Slimy campaigners are real estate agents. Absolute prats. Yet to meet one who wasnt and they are hopeless to boot

Almost bought an apartment last year (glad i didnt). Emailed the agent asking what strata fees were. He replied asking for my phone number, rather than answer the question. I asked again. He didnt reply. I was going to put a bloody offer in if fees werent too high. Useless prick but saved me in the end
