Leave me alone. Three quarters of the way through Knight of Cups......That's hard enough.

In short though, look ahead to find truths........not behind. Stay ahead of the game.
So all that study of mankinds history, to learn from our past so as to not keep repeating the same mistakes, to keep from going in circles by falling into the same patterns of behavior....All an illusory waste of time.

How else, pray tell fine sir, do we garner our bearings so as to know which way forward?;)

Well, that may well suit some but use 'gods' gift to think.....independently and forwardly think.
Why keep looking to the past to see the future. Let's take the 'leap of faith' in logic and jump this mumbo jumbo we seem to be bound by.

It's rather sad that we can't back ourselves yet. I guess we're not quite ready to leave this relative stone age.

Those that don't back a religion shouldn't be tagged with some term designed to make one feel part of a group/sect.
You're starting from a neutral platform and not the other way around.

I despise being asked what I am when it comes to questions of religion. It's not a question that deserves an answer by any definition. It's a stupid question and often asked by just as stupid people. What is it supposed to mean and what is to be gained by any answer, anyway?

That's so funny, you've had the need to say it twice.
Probably a default mechanism when you have nothing else to say.....oh.....and let's not leave out the smug wink....here we go...;)
Actually the first reference was Dr Spock, in lieu of your category error in your use of the term logic.

The next was Scotty....He was in charge of teleportation.....A bit like your groundless attempts in suggesting we are being held back, as a species, by anything, other than our own nature......Which is finite & inextricably connected to the earth, where our roots & our pasts adhere in.

I was being gregarious, generous & nice, which you have mistakenly took as a sign of weakness....Don't piss me off, or I'll bury you in the humus you are seeking to escape.

Lol
You haven't buried anyone in anything on this thread pro.
I like you,but harks is more than a worthy adversary as already proven.
Just look at you lose your cool and prove his point.
You're off guard and vulnerable now with little protection.
Your creator must really be a sicko to watch you suffer such indignity.

Haha i agree, the religion column is specially annoying, in Switzerland where i worked for a few years we had to pay church taxes if you are a Christian. I have a christian name but i refused to tick the box and they got me for that. In the canton i was living they had church taxes and they said i had to pay it. I said i refuse to pay a religious tax and i dont want to associate myself with any religion. After a lengthy argument which went on for months, they finally decided to give up.

There are two types of irreligious people IMO:

1) People that weren't brought up with religion and don't give it a second thought except for when a muslim blows himself up or when a priest is caught buggering a kid.
2) People that were raised in a religious home, rejected it at some point in their life and now spend all their time fighting against it.

That's it, is it? You reject religion and you spend all your time fighting it?
That makes up for a lot of time and who exactly would these people be fighting against and how?
No scope for critical thinking people looking into something that had been thrust upon them, in order to make up their own minds? None?

How many free thinking people that weren't born into religion, have found that there is a God and that he deserves to be worshipped?
How many free thinking people born into religion have found out that the God they've been weened on doesn't actually exist?
That would make for an interesting study through the Western world.

Back to the OP: On what basis does this 'irreligion' become a religion? If it did though, I wouldn't want any part of it.

In actual fact, being an agnostic is the most sensible position there is. Unless you can show me conclusive proof that a deity absolutely does or absolutely does not exist...
Exactly...
But according to the atheist playbook: scripture 1. chapter 1, we are fence sitting cowards.
I don't want to be those things so I must join them

Agnostic is sensible? No it's not because it then takes up many more questions.

To which God exactly would we be sitting on the fence for? All of them?
I think it's a cowards way out to state that you're not sure whether someones 'particular' god exists........or would you be agnostic towards everybody's god?

Be bold and say that you can conceive the notion of a creator................but it just won't be the creator that the party may be selling you.
