One thing that does annoy me - my gym is huge, yet there is no calf raise machine in there.
There's an abductor and adductor machine there, and a weird standing hamstring machine as well as a hamstring curl station, but no calf raise machine.
Derrimut before they had a huge revamp didn't have a seated calf raise, only an old school chrome/steel standing one

The first stand alone machine I'll buy for home will be a seated calf raise. Can likely use it for 1 arm rows too

First sesh back post covid.
- Spot a mask left by some dirty campaigner on a treadmill. Srsly how much of a filthy pig do you need to be.:thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown:
Wait until you find chewing gum inside the drink holders stuck on ya phone or keys or something
If they have a pin loaded leg press machine, you can usually adjust the seat part so that it is flat and do calf raises that way, having only your toes on the push plate if that makes sense. Not ideal but better than nothing.

Otherwise, if they have a smith machine, you can put the foam padding on the bar and do a seated version with your toes resting on a weight plate on the floor. Again not ideal - but better than nothing.
Yeah I used the hack squat half the time for calves, wasn't great but was something
Yeah I'm doing standing single-leg calf raises on a step, I've found that seated raises hit the soleus & lateral heads much better though.
Yep, seated>>>>>>>>>standing calves

Haha, I ain't no fitness model. There is one slightly warped mirror in the gym that makes me look bigger though. 🤣🤣
As a 17yo after 12 months of slight noobie gainz, I always wondered why I could see a bit of definition in my shoulders in the gym mirrors, but then I'd get home, look at bathroom mirror, I'd look tiny with no cut lines or anything :(

My resistance band snapped this morning. Was time to move up one level anyway.
I grabbed a double set of cortex ones 12 months ago, kinda wondering when they'll split too

Just a couple of white streaks on them from being stretched, but yeah, my medium and large bands cop a hammering a few days a week (mainly tricep work, some rear delt/lat work and some for hammies/glutes)

I use it between flat dumbell press sets for my rotator cuff, sometimes between my legs for my squat warm up sets to train my 'leg path' not to cave inwards (yeah I'm sure that's the technical term).

This morning as I was putting my bag in the pigeon hole my water bottle fell out and 3/4s of my water spilled everywhere. It's going to be one of those weeks.

The gym has had a leaking roof for the last 3 years at least. For a few days of the year we have buckets sitting around collecting drips after a heavy downpour.

Here's where it gets weird. The gym is on a major intersection and gets tons of traffic drive by. I have noticed a van permanently parked there, front and centre, in the exact same spot. It's there early in the morning and was still there at 9pm last night.

It has ROOF REPAIR 'free quotes!' CALL NOW! mobile numbers all over it, so I assume it is owned by a roof repairer. I thought they are either fixing the roof leaks, or the van owner is training day and night and is the world's most jacked up roofer.

The other day I noticed a piece of the ceiling tile sagging and a big wet spot on the floor. I needed an answer.

"Why is the roof still leaking? The ******* roof repair van has been parked there for weeks. How long does it take to fix a few leaks???"

"Nah he's not fixing the roof. He pays us to park his old van there to advertise his business."

FFS! The tightarse owner did not even barter a deal to fix the leaks. He pocketed the parking fee, and left us to train in a puddle.

Many of us have cut him slack as he has gone through some personal stuff of late, and the lockdowns haven't helped financially. But it's obvious he's just taking the piss out of his members now.

So I've broken my resistance band, then spilled my whole water bottle on the floor this week - and today I think I dislocated a rib on the leg press. What a week

Being unwell so I cant gym today.
Try and not be hard on yourself.

Ive been a bit easier on myself, over the past 4 weeks, I have sometimes struggled to get more than 3-4 sessions per week.

Today, feeling flat. Had the Moderna jab yesterday, good excuse for me to take it easy today.

Im all good now too.

I just smashed a burger and onion rings, with online shopping to follow. :$

I know tomorrow, Im hitting the gym and will hit it hard. TBH, having taken off a few more days here and there, has done wonders for any niggles I have had.

Actually thats a thing that irritates me right there.

Ppl commenting/passing judgement on those exercising in gyms when the "weather is so gorgeous". Um actually no, its a ******* necessity from my POV.
True.

Regardless of work, stress, or weather for that matter, you should be doing some form of exercise everyday for 20-30mins.

Some may chose the gym, others walking, running, swimming sports etc, but everyone should be doing something. Where you do it and what you do is irrelevant.

TBH the best times to go to the gym for me is when the weather is miserably hot or cold, as its normally empty.

First time in 2 years, I left the gym half way through my work out. :(

Whats worse is that I was the strongest guy in the gym at the time, as it was empty. :drunk:

Absolutely gassed and exhausted. I slept and ate well too, so no excuses for that part of my life.

I can only blame the Moderna jab I had on Friday.Right upper arm is very sore too from the jab, but not to any degree to stop me working out.

Do I go in tomorrow or take a few days off?
