Why start another thread? All I will say is everyone was getting excited Round 1 last year and we know what happened after that

And Port Adelaide beat the premiership favourites Fremantle at Subiaco. I guess that means we're the premiership favourites now

Woooo-hooooo.

I'll tip us to beat Freo next week. Down here in Melbourne at the Dome, it's a game we would be expecting to win. Freo will be pumped though.

Still can't believe we won!

didn't Essendon comfortably beat a top team from 2005 in round 1 2006? with a star forward kicking 7 goals as well?

deja vu

Essendon will finish with 8-10 wins, just enough to justify another Sheedy contract extention and another 3 years of middle of the road mediocrty

Still fancy Freo, theyll be pumped to win, as you suggested.
They seem to play better at the Dome than at home sometimeinaccuracy killed any chances the Crows had - The injuries are realllllllyyy obvious now

Mentally, we've owned Freo in Melbourne. Owned them. The people that think the ladder will be the same in '07 as it was in '06 will be the people tipping Fremantle. I'm not saying they're without a chance, but I'd be surprised if we were defeated. I think last night's loss for Freo might actually sap their confidence more than "inspire" them.

Will be a good game regardless.

Remember how a team form outside the 8 has made the top FOUR for the last 13 consecutive years. Port? Essendon? Could be.

Being favourites kills em :D
Just saying dont get tooo excited from the win. It was good but only round 1

No doubt that, based on this round, essendon will be one of the better Vic teams, 4th or 5th

Just my opinion, but Port win over Freo was a far better win that the Dons beating Crows. Just my opinion though

In 2 weeks we'll be 3-0 quite easily. SO where are the Knockers now ? eating pie from their own clubs obvious lack of skill ?

Uhhhh huh - Port facing the premiership favs ( i know not that impressive) at Subi with tonnes of players under 50 games..... 10 goal quarter

Essendon, facing the Crows who were without Roo, Goodwin for most of the game, and a whole lotta other players, with two ruckmen , one of which hasnt played for a year the other whose in his first AFL year... The Crows without players who kicked 16 of the goals in the match in which they flogged you
Essendon with Hird, Lloyd and Michael in the team, three major players for your success all great
It seemed a lot more difficult for Port to beat Freo than The Dons beat to beat the Weak, lethargic, undermanned Crows
Stop being so bias

Established facts:

a) Nearly a 200 point turnaround.
b) Both teams missing important players.
c) You are an idiot.
