Are Marcus Drum, Brad Ottens and Cam Mooney Traitors?

i don't remember geelong supporting either of these three when they were young, and their dad was off the rails, and the club paid for food and their bills

your lack or argument clearly shows what sort of intelligence has attracted judas to your club

Are Geelong fans calling Jeremy Laidler,Nathan Djerrkura,Shane Mumford or Brent Prismall traitors ?
NO,because they left in the hope of getting a regular senior game and not chasing money like a certain little bald lying prat.

This I can't agree with, actions speak far louder than words or intentions and to squeeze the public (not a club, but individual people) of more money under false pretense, that is truly disgusting. Even if Pickering or Ablett Snr suggested it, Gary could still have said no to that website.

The website is a different issue, that was a low blow to the club and supporters. All i'm talking about is the way he handled leaving the club. Yes his actions didnt do his reputation any good, but like I said how was he meant to handle it. There is no possible way he could have pleased everyone. People say that it distracted the club, but would it have had a better effect on the club if he came out mid year. It's probably one of the hardest things he has ever done, he has never been overly candid and comfortable talking about himself to the media, why would that change.

The fact is he never asked the club or public for money, it was offered. And lets be honest would you want to be the guy in the club who forced his teammates to take pay cuts so you could be paid your worth.
He would never have earnt anything close to what he is getting at Gold Coast if he staid at Geelong, and at the end of the day AFL is a business.

In NRL players move all the time, but there is never as much backlash as this, why should AFL be any different. Everyone seemed to understand when Mumford left for money yet Ablett gets crucified. You can say he strung the club along all year, but only he knows when he committed to GC, everything else is speculation (Strong evidence, but not proof) . I didn't want him to go, and I hate the fact he did and i'm not denying he went about it the wrong way. All i'm saying is that I understand and i'm not angry.

Again with all this "paid what he's worth" crap. Nobody is arguing that he shouldn't have left, that's up to him.

NRL players are quite open about leaving their club before the end of the current season, that's why there's no uproar - because they don't do these ridiculous protracted negotiations that last an entire season.

Mumford didn't leave for money, let's not pretend that's a fact. Mumford left because Sydney guaranteed him first ruck AND 4 years, while Geelong weren't even able to guarantee him second ruck. Getting him dropped for the '09 GF was the stupidest thing Geelong could have done in terms of keeping Mumford. He even said himself that he would have stayed had he been selected in that team.

Anyway, now that we are aware of his love of the cards, it makes sense why he would want to go to GC - so he can hit Jupiter's with Fev every Saturday night!

My point with NRL is that they have created a culture that is accepting of players moving around, the AFL doesnt have anything like that. The AFL has a culture based on expecting pure loyalty from each player. Which makes it hard for players loved by club and supporters alike to move.

Hopefully he doesn't get mixed up with Fev, by now word about Abletts salary would have reached Fev's ear, and the smart money would be on Fev hitting Ablett up for a loan.

Fev's probably called him and said.." Put it all on number 29 mate!!"

I personally think he was a Champion player who gave great service to the club.
Recognized as an elite player in the comp who was greatly undervalued financially.
Not once has he said anything about the club and was very restraint when publicly pressured and baited.
He is entitled to secure his future. Like all sports and great athletes there time is short.
Yes I will miss him, I used to go just to see his father also, then he was no longer there. Life goes on.!!
Yes i wish he had of stayed, but he didn't . I say good luck to him and thank him for our 2 premierships.
No he is not a traitor

Minor point. But mumford was guaranteed 2nd ruck. Move along now.

Please dont try and fight an NRl fight. They have ****ed their comp with it.

Is Gary really getting paid what his "market value" is now?
Market value is the price by which clubs are both willing and able to pay for his services, determined by supply and demand.
What the GC Suns are able to offer him is not reflective of market value. It is manipulated by the AFL.
Sure, Ablett is probably worth more than we are able to pay him but at the same time what no other club is without an unrealistic salary gap manufactured by the AFL. Just a thought

we're not talking real estate here. Ablett is worthy of being the highest paid afl player whether at gc or anywhere

theres life after football ill do the same for them bucks as much as i love the team, i dont blame Ablett for this i blame the AFL :(

Of ourse he is worthy of being the highest paid player but that's not what I said. What I'm saying is that if he's worth as much as he is being offered by GC (financed by the AFL colllectivjty I might add) then surely Goddard, Judd, Swan, Pendlebury and Hodge are worth the same or something similar. They are not because nobody can afford this and thus it's not true market value.

Ok silly thought over. The situation stinks and I do blame the AFL more than Gary

You can't say that without proof, and since Blake is still pulling on the boots for us I doubt you've got it.

He was never going to be the number 1 ruck for sydney.
I am sure you can google that.

i will keep it simple

what judas believes is that it is ok to approach an opposition employer and negotiate 12 months out whilst being employed by another

is that ok for you

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Is it okay that the AFL allowed this to happen, to benefit two clubs, when the sixteen others can't use the same rule?

Demetriou is corrupt, and needs to step down now!

My entreaty to 'keep the faith' is all about sticking with THE CLUB and not allowing disappointing situations with players (past or present), staff (past or present) or on-field performance to distract us from continuing to support the boys.

Not sure how that will ever be a 'redundant sentiment' for anyone who wants to follow the hoops?

Go well,
S.

Lifespan_Void is the only thing that is redundant.

Hope he gets over it soon, and gets a life!

Re: Is G. Ablett a Traitor

Given that this is about the 20th thread you have made on this subject in general I think we have had enough of your opinion than we can possibly bare.:thumbsd:

But if Me doesn't pollute us with his articles, he might have to find something worthwhile to do, such as find a job, or get a life.

It must suck being _Me or LifespanVoid.

I'm pretty happy in general, stop projecting. I like how you are "over it" yet you feel the need to keep holding up an end of an argument d_henderson. You're actually no better than the people you criticise.

And just so we're clear on why Mumford left Geelong, let's hear from the man himself:

"The days dragged on. My dad just said it was my decision. He was asking me, 'What do you want to do? Where do you want to be? What's going to be better for you?' With the amount of ruckmen down there (Geelong), there was never the guarantee of even getting in the side. This was too good to say no."

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/shane-mumford-a-city-sleeker/story-e6frf9jf-1226008488447

So I think we can put the Ablett-Mumford comparisons to bed now.

Wow such a witty and intelligent response from someone who has a life and a job.

PS troglodyte i do have a job, and pretty well paid at that. I am not like you who calls running the Judas admiration club as employment, simply because Centrelink provide you with benefits.

buddy and roo were offered stupid contracts but were loyal and not try hard A-listers
