why can't you get over bomber, why is he refered to as a liar. or are you cut over his behaviourDespite all the recriminations, I think, despite the loss of Ablett and Thompson, we are in great shape.
i think we all agree
We have been able to play Menzel, Duncan and T.Hunt (which wouldn't have happened under "Bomber" (aka "Liar")). Ottens and Wojo are having the seasons of their lives, the sub rule has bought Milburn some time, and Chris Scott has been a brilliant coach so far. He has put Varcoe in the mid-field, to cover the loss of Ablett, and not only him, but Bartel and Selwood seem to have more free-rein with the ball, instead of passing it to Ablett. Most of our team, far from looking old, are playing renewed and invigorated, wanting to impress the new coach. Also, we have beaten St. Kilda (last year's GF), Fremantle in Perth and Sydney in Sydney (three finalists, two in hostile territory), and, if we beat Hawthorn tomorrow, we will have beaten four of last year's finalists in the first five rounds. With still six games at SS, an away trip against GCS, a game against Richmond and another game against Port, that should set us up nicely, let alone if we beat some more finalists from last year. I mean, only Collingwood are above us, and they have beaten Port, Richmond and North. So, if anything, we are the form team.collingwood are the form team
So, let's smile, put last year behind us, and rejoice in Geelong's great form so far. Gold Coast's disastrious start is like the karma train hitting Ablett, so you can get some vindication from that. As Ablett's team struggles, while Geelong thrives, hopefully some regret may come.
until they retire we will not know what they really think. north had an honesty session a few weeks ago, and boomer got slammed. Mackie had an attitude problem last year.---------------------------------------------------------------------
I saw Cameron Ling on "The Footy Show" a couple of weeks ago, and when he was asked about Ablett, he seemed like he didn't have any problems with it, and accepted his decision. Because, you see, unlike a few posters here, Ling and the other Geelong players are adults, and can handle the situation with maturity. I mean, one of the marks of our team in recent times is how the club keeps its head in times of scandal. We don't self-destruct and let it affect our performance, like St. Kilda does.
As for the media being a distraction, what else is new? Just ignore those wanna-bes and write their comments off as the drivel it is.
Mackie was probably dropped, because he has poor disposal. I have always thought he has been one of our poorset players, and had only two good years (2007-2008). He struggled last year, and has been shocking this year (when Ablett is not an issue to us). Did you see his poor disposal, mis-kicks, and kicking to the opposition in our game against Fremantle in Round 3? Mackie is not great at decision-making, struggles under pressure, and plays on confidence. He is also somewhat of a downhill skier, and maybe we could use him as trade-bait at the end of the year. You can't blame Ablett for Mackie's poor performances this year, or his shockers in 2006.

No...he's much worse than that.
He strikes as the type that'd selll his own flesh and blood into slavery in heartbeat if that netted him an extra grand or two in his bank account.
Luckily for him there are no words in the dictionary yet to describe the lowly unashamed money-grabbing pond scum that he is.
I believe it is called a Chris Judd.

----------------------------------------------------------------------can't we close this thread now?

Because Bomber LIED about his reasons for wanting to be released from his contract with Geelong. He claimed he was burnt-out, but the real reason was that he had already agreed to terms with Essendon. Bomber, instead of just telling the team about jumping to Essendon, he concocted a story about being unable to coach anymore, when the truth is that he didn't want to coach. Fair enough, but we could have offered him an mentoring or director of coaching role if he wanted to stay at Geelong. But he had already agreed to join James Hird at Essendon. But you prefer to think that the club made up the "burnout" story to save embarrassment, just because you laud Bomber for winning us two flags, when, seeing how we are playing this year, we would have won two flags no matter who coached us, such is our team of players.
My problem is also that he left mid-contract. If Bomber had coached this year, he could have seen out his contract, and I would have no problem if he then joined Essendon. Bomber always said that this was his last contract, so if he coached to the end of 2011, and then decided to retire, go into business, travel the world, join Essendon, whatever, I would have wished him luck. But he broke his committment, and this was after preaching about loyalty to his players, he then doesn't show the same loyalty by breaking his committment, and not being honest about his reasons for wanting out.
Some revealing snippets from Sooky in a pre-game interview on K-Rock today.
Said that an independent mediator was brought in on more than one occasion last year to try & smooth out the differences between GAJ & Bomber, but of course to no avail.
Cooky also agrees with Costa's feelings that has Gazza known that Bomber wasn't goign to stick around, then he would've - despite the purported extra $1m/year he's believed to be getting from the GC.
You're making out like Thompson leaving was a bad thing. Two things: First, Thompson's real reason for not seeing out the contract was because of his non-relationship with Cook, on the back of his personal patron Costa stepping down from the board. The Essendon business was coincidental to the aforementioned. Second, had Thompson seen out his 2011 contract there is probably no way we'd even be 5-0 right now, as he would have been extremely reluctant to implement the changes necessary to stay relevant in the competition, tactically.
Yeah be pissed off that he told lies, and was a hypocrite and all the rest. But unlike Ablett leaving, Thompson leaving does not affect the club negatively at all. In fact the only thing we should really be unhappy about was that he took McCartney with him - a valuable tactician and had a great rapport with the group. Of course there's nothing wrong with the coaching staff we have now, but when Sanderson's contract comes up be ready to go through all of this cloak and dagger rubbish again.
you really need to let go-----------------------------------------------------------------------
If Bomber had a non-relationship with Cook, I can't understand why. Yes, Brian Cook did a review into Thompson's job, as well as the club, but Thompson KEPT his job, even though I hold him mainly responsible for our non-performance in 2006 (which, seeing how we have performed since, makes 2006 all the more damning). So, if he kept his job, what's his gripe? Was his precious ego offended that his coaching performance was even questioned. Okay then, why did he change our gameplan from 2007 onwards then, if he did such a stellar job in 2006? Bomber needed to get over it, realise that he needed Balme to come into the club, and that he needed to change his style of coaching. Besides, look how well we have done since that review! It was the club's fault for not having the support for Bomber, as he was being torn left right and centre. However there was a lack of support becuase of the lack of funds within the club previously. It was Bomber's fault for doing what he did to his family. However the review was a harsh review, and only Costa kept him at the club. Mooney for one wanted out.
So, the Essendon contact was coincidental. How do you know? How do you know Bomber wasn't approached early in the season, and was holding meetings with the Bombers for most of 2010? Why will you believe the Ablett timetable, but not accept that maybe Bomber was keeping us guessing all season as well? Bomber had meeting throughout 2010. But he was clear that he did not want to be a senior coach, and is not a senior coach. He was a born and bred don. Judas was born and bred cat who did a turn. I would hope you understand the difference
Ablett leaving hasn't seemed to affect our performances at all either. I haven't seen a match where Ablett would have made much of a difference (other than maybe St. Kilda in Round 1, where maybe his explosive play would have opened the game up for us sooner). But we are 5-0 without Ablett, so we seem to have covered him okay.in no game have we missed him, as the possession hog was costing us in the end. Good luck to him and maybe he can worry about the brownlow while we worry about flags

Hey, least he gets the "blockbuster" game this week. Hope for his sake he treats it like a finals game, coz its gonna be awhile since he'll get to play in one.
This weekend he gets to achieve what no other Geelong player has been able to do - he gets to play in a battle for the wooden spoon game![]()
Well he did say he left to seek new challenges.
Least next year he'll have a full pre-season. Seeing as it'll start in September
yeah but he will be "injured" and attending the caulfield cup, melbourne cup
