Is anyone else seriously worried about the Swans forward line?

The only excuse I can think of :
1. In the last 10 min all caution was thrown to the wind because they were behind and they had consciously conserved more energy than North. Then let go with a taxing "all out" effort that MAYBE ISN't sustainable for long periods of game.
2. They fear they don't have the backline cattle to protect against any quick rebound so they inch it forward covering their tracks unless a quick break exposes a free forward player

However last 10 mins they got it in quick reasonably direct with crumbers at the ball. Many opportunities came of it (ala last week at times) and ala 2006 GF!!!.. ala so many games they ONLY just lose after scrambling a catch up

It works why not try it more often?

-Micky O leads too much to the very difficult to kick pockets ... no point! Give him room or make them play 2 on 1 and forget him use as a decoy
-ROK if he is going to have a shot don't come out so far beyond 50m or come further and kick it in long quickly
-Davis is not strong enough overhead- doesn't have a great vertical leap, hands to highvertically instead out of out in front and goes to ground far too much. Note he crumbed most of his famous 4 in 2005.. most goals come from cheast marks
-Jude learn to kick a goal or hand pass it to anyone else or play on and pass!!

Someone like Playfair, LRT, Grundy, Everitt ....someone large that can take a high mark.....needs to charge up the corridor and crunch whoever is blocking the hole, contest the long high ball with a designated front and centre crumber!!! NOT EVERY time but enough to worry/confuse defenders by adding variety and create chance/lucky opportunities!

I admire SWANS tight contested style BUT AM sick of seeing them play catch up footy, or have most of the ball but not put away the opposition, then far to often nearly scrape home after they get desperate and take chances, when countless times if they were even at 3/4 time would win easily!

FFS ....take SOME chances!!!:thumbsu: ( even give the Blakey patented helicopter floatin bomb a try:D)

Davis had 5 kicks, 4 handballs, 3 marks, one tackle and one goal and that just isn't enough for someone with Davis' talent.
I don't disagree with you there, but I think we are our own problem 3/4 of the time.

Games that have been free flowing this season, we have won pretty easily and looked the goods. I don't always think that its just our style to play lock down footy.

Very disappointing aspect of that game was the amount of silly free kicks (almost all of them deserving to be paid) and 50m penalties our forwards (and part time forwards like Amon, Jolly etc) coughed up. In a game that close, it really cost us big time.

But without wanting to sound like a broken record.

8.16....

You just can't win games kicking at 30%

I think the Swans should have 2 days a week where all they do is shoot for goal on the run and from set shots. 30% is unacceptable.

Definitely. But he had 5 disposals and 2 contested marks in the first quarter. Look threatening in much of the first half. Went missing in the second half. Partly his own fault, partly our rubbish game plan.

Today our Forwards were running around like headless chickens. Compare and Contrast to the Bulldogs forward line where their Forwards ran and got infront of our defenders and took easy marks and converted them into easy goals while the Swans forwards seem to think that standing still was the way to kick goals.

The midfield had problems today (they sucked at clearances) but you cant blame the midfield for the service as the Forwards didnt run and didnt create space for themsleves so the midfielders were forced to always kick to a contest.

Forward Line
Micahel O'Loughlin - 3 goals, 2 behinds
Ryan O'Keefe - 1 goal, 2 behinds
Henry Playfair - 1 goal, 3 behinds
Total Shots - 12
Total Points - 37
Points Per Shot - 3.1

Midfield
Amon Buchanan - 2 goals, 0 behinds
Jarrad McVeigh - 2 goals, 1 behind
Jude Bolton - 1 goal, 0 behinds
Adam Goodes - 1 goal, 0 behinds
Kieran Jack - 1 goal 0 behinds
Total Shots - 8
Total Points - 42
Points Per Shot - 5.3

Maybe the midfielders should teach the Forwards how to kick straight as the midfield scored nearly twice as much as the Forward line per shot.

The problem today was flooding from the dogs enabled by our hesitant midfield (blue collars proudly displayed) and the defensive kick to kick. When the ball came in quickly (and wasn't smothered or kicked to an opponent) the forwards looked alright.

He is terrified of kicking right now. He looked like a deer in headlights yesterday when anywhere near goals which is scary.
I am not particularly worried about ROKs kicking for goal. I think the bigger issue is that he is spending an awful amount of time getting his kicks in the backline and when he does have a shot it is from 50 on the boundary line.
