Please check the circumstances and facts, and try again.
Don't disregard Brett's dismissal from Carlton at all, but knights was part of an evil plot from the very beginning, would still be coaching somewhere if it wasn't for being part of that club, it's a very dismissed reality in any other industry he'd be compensated in the billions (slight overreaction but you get what I mean), I think knights has been shafted even by the public so badly they forget while targeting Hird the disgusting thing that happened to him before it......it was in the making

It's entirely possible to be a very good assistant coach but no good as a senior coach. Maybe that's just Ratten's gig. Where was he coaching prior to getting the Carlton job? He was the fill-in for a bit when Pagan got the arse, wasn't he?

Of course, it is always possible to learn and grow as a person, so maybe he's better placed now to be a senior coach than he was at Carlton.

I think it was somewhere he stated he is happy being an assistant and didn’t want the pressure of a head coaching gig for family reasons. If he wanted a head coaching gig I don’t think there would be a shortage of suitors

FFS no he’s not.

St K had a down year last year, sure he may of helped, but they have started well this season, decent pre season of much of their players and some close wins have given confidence.

He’s not as shit as some of us made out during his final Carlton days nor is he suddenly Sir Alex Ferguson

If your head coach is responsible for all your recruiting that is the club's fault.

p.s.
Who were Shane Rogers and Wayne Hughes?

EDIT: & Steven Icke
Brett Ratten was a disaster at Carlton as senior coach. We are still paying today for his tenure.

We did not have a list manager back in his day. He was the boss of the football department and had sway over the recruiting and trading as well. In fact he had his fingers in almost every part of the club, even non football related things. Part of the reason he was given the arse.

Read the lists for recruiting and trading below. Pathetic. Set the club back 10 years in just five years of coaching. He thought he had a list that was good enough and did not treat the draft with respect or use trading strategically.

Fred Flinstone could have coached the Carlton list to 5th in 2011. Sadly the work in 2009 and 2010 did not attempt to turn over the list or build it up.

Was my favourite player growing up and when he was our coach, I loved him to bits. The arrogant Carlton way got rid of him and always thought the media was way way too harsh on him, because at the same time Voss, Hird and Buckley were all coaching their clubs and Ratts was seen as inferior for some reason.

Would welcome him back with open arms and would never let him go.

Our game style really isn't that different, its just execution and confidence. Ratten can't have hurt and hes probably been a good influence, but belief is just as important
Well, it has changed if one looks at the stats up to the Melbourne game:

*Pressure applied 2018: 175 points (18th), 2019: 183 points (5th)
*Mark play-on percentage (Not including F50): 2018: 40.1 per cent (1st), 2019: 20.6 per cent (17th)
*Marks: 2018: 76.5 (17th), 2019: 94 (4th)
*Stoppages per game: 2018: 50.8 (18th), 2019: 70.2 (3rd)
*Points from forward half clearance: 2018: 11.5 (17th), 2019: 20.2 (1st)

In addition, more long kicks and less disposals.

Also useful to note, season is still early, so Saints still adjusting to playing this way, and commensurately, the opposition learning to combat this system.

Interesting of note to me is what other clubs play similarly?
