Is Brisbane the worst top two side ever?

10-3 but let's break it down.

10/13 games in QLD.

Two genuine away games got smacked by the Hawks in one of them.

Neutral game against Geelong at the SCG and got belted.

Of the 10 games in QLD, 6 at the Gabba.

Includes a close win against Fremantle and lucky win against the Saints.

4 games at Metricon. Don't tell me these are away games. The Gold Coast is no further from Brisbane than Melbourne from Geelong yet Geelong play home games in Melbourne.

Of the 4 GC games, close win against an awful Melbourne side, smashed by Richmond, lucky win over North.

They'll never get a better chance to win another premiership but barely scraping by in a lot of games in QLD. Lost convincingly in 2/3 games outside of QLD. No answer for big contenders like Geelong and Richmond. Beat West Coast when they playing poorly, sooking about the hub and sooking about dew on the grass.

The Port win was solid, but geez what an ordinary form line especially since they beat Port in round 5.

bit harsh, they finished second last year so have decent form over a long period.

Had a lot of close games fall their way last year (much like this year) and a fairly easy draw. Were shown up in the finals.

I feel like they are in reality a midtable side but had results fall their way with an easy draw last year and will play 85% of their games in QLD this year.

Good on them, they're a fun side to watch, but they are in reality at the level of a midtable side. It's way Fagan is blowing a gasket more and more he can see they've stopped improving and are only surviving on the back of never leaving their home state.

If you're a top two side and struggling to put away sides like North Melbourne and Melbourne at home, getting blown off the park by other top 4-6 contenders like Geelong and Richmond are you really a legitimate top two side?

Even go back to last year at home they had a 10 goal loss to the Pies, beat Adelaide by a point, narrow win over North (it was a closer game than the 12 point margin), 1 point win over Geelong, belted by Richmond, lost semi to GWS. Lost to Carlton in Melbourne.

I feel like they've regressed since last year if anything.

Hahahahahaha what even is this. Round 1 was a complete write off, the players didn't even want to be there. Since the restart we've won 10 games and lost 2 in Richmond and Geelong.

Geelong we should've put away in the 1st qtr and had 1 bad qtr for the entire game. Won the other 3.

Richmond we were more than a year younger, coming off a 4 day break vs 6 day and had more players out in key areas than Richmond.

Basically, we are 10-2 post restart after having 1 bad quarter against the Cats and losing a game we were never favourites against the Tigers. If we kicked a bit better this wouldn't even be a conversation. Maybe Gold Coast should try winning some games past round 6?

If the close wins against NM, Melbourne and St Kilda went against them they'd 7-6 despite playing 10/13 games home games (yes I'm counting the Metricon games as home games because it's an hour drive away).

You're ignorantly ignoring the fact we dominated all 3 of those games. None of them had any right to get near us if not for goal kicking. If any of them won they would've stolen it.

Also last time I checked Metricon is no more of a home game for us than any other team? Don't know what you're on about. Please explain how Metricon is a home ground advantage.

They literally just need to kick straight to win the whole thing

Have my reservations about Brisbane but they're getting it done for the time being. Proof will be in the finals pudding.

Let's wait until the end of the H&A season first to see if they even finish top 2. West Coast has a game in hand on them and are only one win behind, with better %. Geelong is also only a win behind with a huge %. Any slip up and one of those two will likely overtake them.

Not even the worst 2nd places team this season... unless you meant “are NM the best 2nd last placed team?”
