For anyone that wants to see it:

I was pretty impressed when they showed the wagon wheel of his sixes from the last IPL....holy shit!!!! His last shot of the game is by far the largest six I reckon this tournament will see.

EDIT: lol at his shirt number....333. Also...lol at "43 runs from 60 balls" to "19 runs from 52 balls"....talk about going BANG!!!

Ironically, as a corollary to what some have said here, he is probably doing the most of any player to promote and grow cricket in the West Indies...

Sportsmen have only a finite amount of time when they can earn money from their sport. In the case of Chris Gayle the WICB can not pay him what he can earn elsewhere in the sport. Gayle is purely maximising his earning potential to make sure that he has no financial concerns when he retires.

What do you mean "ruining your cricket career"? What is the standard for it? Money? Fame? Demand? Popularity?

He has achieved all the above playing in T20 cricket. T20 is as big a part of cricket as tests. So, by gaining popularity in T20, he is in fact bettering his career than ruining it.

cue hundreds of posters saying "oh he got injured last night his career's ruined just because he's not getting paid enough by the wicb even though that's not what's going on"

The problem with Chris Gayle is his mouth.
On a Jamiacan sports station, Gayle unleashed, stating the chairman of selectors should quit, blamed coach Ottis Gibson for the demise of Ramnaresh Sarwan and captain Darren Sammy doesn't deserve to be in the team ahead of fellow Jamiacan Andre Russell.
After the interview the WICB said he needed to retract his comments and apologize to both coach and captain, but he has failed to do so and has stated, he has no plans of doing so.
The WICB have now come out and said until Gayle apologizes, he won't be concidered for section in any formats.
But I doubt even if he was to give a token apologie, I doubt Gibson and Sammy would want him back in the fold.
Basically he's made the bed and now he has to lie in it and I say well done to the WICB for sticking to their guns, you can't allow one player to run his own race in a team related sport.

That gives their team an interesting dynamic now. They really struggled in the top order, could give them a new lease of life being able to drop one of braithwaite or barath.

In terms of limited overs cricket they could look incredible with Gayle Pollard and Narine in the same team.
Full strength the Windies have the potentialto be an awesome side now, I reckon in almost all formats. I want them to do well. A competitive West Indies is important for cricket IMO.

Even Darren Sammy has stepped up to proving himself as being a genuinely good captain. I think he will be the difference in the Windies becoming a force again.

And Shiv Chanderpaul - got to be one of the most under rated consistently peforming batsman of all time.

Go Windies!

A middle/lower order containing Pollard, Sammy and Russell should be able to back up the early order big hitting of Gayle and Barath.
The next T20 word cup should be interesting.
