GH has gone into hiding after checking the overnight scorecard.

Ha, I was out last night drowning the sorrows after a miserable weekend due mostly to the HFC. Just checked the score, shocking. I hate England.

Well the WI do have alot in common with the HFC at the moment.......

Except we win occasionally.

You would just love, for one series, for the board to put aside their differences and play Gayle, Pollard and co.

Pollard is a veteran of ODI, has a strong first class average around 40 (which is amazing for WI std, and they will not consider him. He has showed his interest in making himself available for tests, but it will not happen.......

The IPL has destroyed WI cricket....or what was left of WI cricket. With the issues between the Board and the Jamaican and Guyana gov'ts, the r'ship is dead, unfortunately the changes at board level just will not happen.

Remember the guy I mentioned in the WI v Aus preview....Jerome Taylor, well, read the link, WICB needs to be fired!

"He was in that programme supervised by Jimmy Adams. And there were a lot of difficulties with Jerome. He came back, got injured again, and he was put on another programme. And he was asked to play an entire series of the first-class season to demonstrate that he was fit.
"He took a break, went to Jamaica to a funeral came back and got injured. He was put on a programme. Next thing we heard he was in the IPL. Since then he has not played for Jamaica nor has he played in the IPL this year. There is only so much you can do. You have a player, you are providing for him to be on the medical programme, you are providing for him to be in that rehabilitation programme and he doesn't commit himself to it as a professional."

Sounds like we need to send Realhawk over there.

Doesn't sound like your even allowed to attend a funeral over there any more!

No. I merely meant that now we appear to have another keeper who could play for Australia, it might bump Haddin down the pecking order. There is no doubt Wade is the first picked and deserves to be. I just have Tim Nielsen inspired apocalyptic visions where Haddin is played as a specialist batsman. And no one, except Brad Haddin wants that to come to bear.

Who or what in Test cricket was "The Grizz"? asked Stuart Backhouse from England
This was the nickname of the former Australian wicketkeeper Wally Grout, given to him on account of his habit of "grizzling" (complaining, in a humorous way, I think!) about life in general. Queenslander Grout made his Test debut in South Africa in 1957-58, when he was already 30, and remained Australia's first-choice keeper for nine years. He retired after the 1965-66 Ashes series with 187 dismissals to his name in 51 Tests, but sadly died of a heart attack late in 1968, aged only 41.

Nah, 5 in England 2013 (Trent Bridge, Lord's, Old Trafford, Chester-Le-Street, The Oval) and then 5 in Australia 2013/14 because of the 2015 WC.

Something like this happened in 1974-75 didn't it? I'm sure there was something odd, possibly one series wasn't 'The Ashes'.

SA and Sri Lanka are here this summer.

Just reading Cricinfo's report on the 3rd days play in England. One of the most wonderfully descriptive lines written about cricket. David Hopps, writing about Marlon Samuels.... "He played England's offspinner, Graeme Swann, in his sleep."

I'm so happy for marlon, he burst on the scene as a 19 yr old in Australia, both on the field and at the nightclubs. He was in a rich vein of form before his suspension (which he was hard done by) now a test of his character and resilience he is performing consistently.

Again the question must be asked?

Why was he not selected against Australia? He could have been the difference IMO.

My man Darren bravo is out of form, hearing he is really taking after his mentor 'off the field', hope he finds his form.

Can't wait to see Narine rip through England!

What about Tino Best - 95. Gee, I had no idea he was still around. If I'm thinking of the right bloke I recall him being raw in 2003 against Australia in one of the latter Tests but never really had the control to play at an International level. I'm surprised by Ramdin's century, considering I thought his technique wouldn't equip him for English conditions. Shame the rain has ruined the Test.
