Ah shit Clarke.

Avg must be 20 now......

WHATS THE BLOODY HURRY GUYS!

In his last five tests Clarke has scored 14, 3, 14, 4, 9, 2, 80, 4 & 20

150 @ 16.66

Disgrace. CA have pandered to him & set an appalling precedent by not dropping him after the 2 tests in India. It appears to be a face saving exercise by the powers that be to persist with him even though we are crying out for a batsman to grind out the runs & not take a backward step.

That's terrible - didn't realise it was that bad.

Ponting has to be moved down the order in my opinion. But who comes into three?

Hussey at 3, then Ponting at 4, then Clarke at 5, Haddin at 6, so both Ponting and Clarke are demoted and Hussey and Haddin both promoted..:thumbsu:

They don't have a natural three in the team. Hussey is perfect where he is, Clarke is proving the Peter Principle at 4.

They may look at bringing in an opener from Shield level and converting him.

Dave Warner? Phil Jaques?

Not Warner. To me, Ferguson looks a natural 4.

Where is he now? i haven't heard or seen of him since he got injured a while back?

Been back playing with NSW all season. Not sure of his exact stats, but hasn't set the world on fire. From memory he's be getting a few 30-60 scores

I suspect one thing the selectors (in their infinite wisdom) might be toying with: Katich, if he returns, could drop to three, with Hughes or another young opener to partner Watson. Ponting would go to six and Clark and Hussey to keep 4 and 5 respectively. This would mean they would blood an opener for a year or so, then look at number 3.

I doubt Katich will come back though.

Khawarja is a talent. No doubt. But he's not ready to be dropped into 3 at International level. And besides, he's having a relatively subdued year.

Not really Grizz. Leading run scorer in the Shield (499) with an average of 71.29. Also just smashed a better than run a ball hundred in the one-dayers. He's crying out to be given a chance.

Really? Gee, tells you how much domestic cricket I've been watching.

200 odd was in one innings though wasn't it?

He is the sort of guy you bring in at 6 and work him up to 4 over time.

Just got to say.... what a great wicket this is. How much better is this than a 5 day run fest!!!!!

Australia need a 400 lead.

Did Hussey not used to be an opener?

One of the few that can judge and leave a ball.

Do people honestly think that shuffling the decks with Ponting and Clarke is going to get the job done? Same shit different smell.

Bring in some fresh players.

Language! Nah like the hawks in 2010 a statement needs to be made! Clarke must go. He has underperformed for a long period of time and selection is no longer abt reputAtions should be performance based.

I suggest marsh for the opening spot and at number 4 we convert kieron pollard as an Australian citizen after all the west indies don't want him.

214. Still almost 300 runs (3 x 50's) in the other games. I think he had a lean game or two, but his recent one day knock shows he's in form

Not sure we've got that luxury. I'd be happy for him to come in at 5.

We've got that lead. I reckon 300 would have done us. The track isn't going to flatten out so although there are runs in it, the bowlers are still getting plenty.

Ferguson is really struggling for form at the moment.

I'd look at Voges & Bailey.

Voges has been on the fringe for a long time. I think Marsh might have moved past him in the pecking order.

Yeah, I've seen a little of Voges bat. His technique is limited for mine - don't reckon he's test level. Ferguson is, in my opinion. He's a very talented batsman. Still not convinced he's a number 3 though. As an aside, there are quite a few cricketers who think he's the best of the younger batsmen. There's a young batsman who debuted recently (for Queensland or NSW, I think) who has big wraps on him. Hit a century recently.

I think that's Maddinson for NSW. Opening bat... 130no against QLD today

Chris Lynne is the bloke I meant. He plays for Queensland.

Maddinson has big wraps on him too.

You know the problem if we win this test.... NO CHANGE!

You're probably right. Pity... it'll be Hussey, Haddin and Watson again plus Mitchell of course and the other bowlers who would have done the trick. You can't carry 3 of your top 6 through an entire series and expect to do well.

He's having a good year too... 2nd behind Khawaja in runs.
