20/20 cricket is like visitng a lolly shop.........flashy and fun but ultimately unfulfilling.

Can someone tell me why Smith keeps getting a game? Still have not worked it out.

Secondly why did he bat before Paine and given the state of play surely Mitchell Johnson would have also been a more viable option?

And why did David Warner think that he was playing for stumps?

If you include Lee (who is handy with the bat), I think we batted down to number 10 last night, yet there was no urgency from Warner at all.

In his defence, Watson was smoking and it is always best to give the strike to a player who is hot.

Warner was left out of the one day squad and I wouldn't be surprised if he was trying to show a bit of restraint to prove worthy of world cup selection.

Who cares whether we win or lose 20/20 the world cup is where all these guys want to go

Might be alright in ODI's having one play tge Geoff
Marsh role but not required in the T20 format with the length of the batting line-up for mine.

Yeah mate, I agree, I think Warner is a 20/20 player at best and should play his natural game but still think he may have batted that way to put his name in the minds of ODI selectors. We have many better options than him for the longer format but you can't blame him for trying.

Re: Cricket may be DEAD, but it's ghosts linger...

A washout would be a great result for our cricket team today...

Yep. We don't lose and the Poms don't win.

I can't see a down side at all :thumbsu:

cricket is so exciting that henry jr had to remind me that there was a game of cricket on today, other wise i woyuld have missed it!@!!!

Well, whenever you need a run a ball and you stride out at first wicket down, you must take the opportunity to produce a Chris Tavare impersonation and grind everything to a halt.

Once again, another reason to move Watson down to number 6  :p ;)

Never said to lower him down the order in the one dayers. But, surely you're not trying to say... no, you wouldn't try that argument.

Henry Jr is not happy.... Wants haddin gone compares clarkes batting to geoff marsh!

Instead of the one dayer I have switched to fox sports to watch the big bash replay. God forbid I switch on the dreaded tennis!

So we've gone into this one day with five bowlers? Strangest looking side I've seen for many a moon.

Must say Steve Smith has shown impressive character this summer, most notably tonight.

Can barely make a run or take a wicket, but has remained unbelievably positive towards his teammates and desperate in the field.

Characteristics of a good leader. Has to be worried about his place in the side in all 3 forms of the game given his performances but seemingly doesn't seem to enter his head.

Hope his form turns and no doubt it will given his attitude.

Desperation in the field - its nice to see again, isn't it?

Smith is actually doing OK with the ball when they give him a chance (in the ODI's at least) but they don't bowl him very much. Maybe with the injury to Hauritz he'll get more of a go.

Marsh - what more can you do?

Surely he will be added to the World Cup squad...surely!!

Food- check
beer- check
cricket- check

actually I need another beer!

I missed the pons innings but very interested in the run chase!

Does anyone else get the impression that Clark has a very bad back?

His body is very erect and he is very static yet jerky with his movements.

It is possible to get away with a bad back in the field. But when batting a bad back reduces all body movement and limits stroke play and power.
