One great ball to get rid of Strauss though.

Pity 'bout the rest. Unreliable.

His claim to fame is that he is quick. He'd barely play Shield cricket if not for the speed gun.

He barely does play Shield cricket. Hardly played a game in 2 years.

His action makes my back feel sore. Caught some vision of the Cummins kid from NSW - very, very promising.

Actually he doesn't play it at all. In fact at one stage he had a CA contract and only played T20 cricket.

He's Shoaib Akhtar, but less durable.

Your un-Australian Mess.....

Seems we're giving the Indians a bit of a working-over in the practice game.

Anyone read Darren Berry's article in the paper today? Talked about how Cameron White could cement his place in the test side at number 6, possibly with the 'C' against his name should he perform well in the World Cup. Ridiculous call.

Are the SACA paying Chuck in goon bags these days?

His unfailing loyalty, which is a quality that is mostly admirable, eats away at his credibility somewhat.

Would have thought that when you lose a wicket during a powerplay, would have better off throwing Lee/Johnson/Dougie in there and just let them swing.

Sending Clarke out there and making him slog is not his game.

From what I've seen so far we're falling into the bouncer/yorker bowling plan. Gettable? Yes. Not sure they have the depth though.

Well, as it turned out, my fears were unfounded. Johnson bowled pretty well & hopefully Lee will be better after the run. You're right grizz, they don't have the depth, but that is no surprise when their country has been demoralised by Mugabe.

Harsh.... not even 30 runs scored in the first 10 overs against what, the 10th best team in the world.

Never showed any intent whatsoever early on.

Haddin should just be given license to swing. Either that or open with a tail ender and let them swing.

Isn't a lot of that down to Ponting's conservative style of captaining?

Last world cup was based on 'don't hold back' and seemed to work well.

Anyone that has played cricket will tell you putting the bowler under will no doubt lead to some poor deliveries coming the batsman's way.

Certainly. They didn't take risks. I don't think they were confident with the spinners that early in their innings. And you're right. They didn't put Price or Utseya under pressure early.

A cricketer made an observation to me about Cameron White. It goes like this: White is fairly much an eye player with primitive footwork. When he goes off and gets in the zone, he's destructive, but he can be found out by good bowling. White's out of form, but the bowlers have wised up to him and that's as much as what's doing him in now. Watch most of them and they are varying their pace to him much more than other batsmen. It really throws Cam's rhythm out.

Keep an eye out for it - interested in your thoughts.

Interesting that the Saffies opened the bowling with Botha. Very similar to what Zimbabwe did with Price. The African teams appear to have a plan for the first 10 overs in the subcontinent.

How amazingly pathetic does the South Australian 2nd innings look in the game against Queensland. We truely deserve to be last.

Easy going against the Kiwis. Some of the umpiring has been awful. That reversed LBW decision against Watson (?) that was missing leg by a mile was a shocker.

Couldn't agree more. It's why I always have a bit of a chuckle when his name is tossed around as a potential Australian captain. I think he's a terrific cricketer who has found his place as a T20/50 over Australian player & leading Shield captain and player, but he's not a top line test batsman.

He's got the skill and strength of mind to overcome top class bowling on a flat deck, but you need the foundations of technique and footwork when the conditions favour the bowler.
