How Bower is still on an AFL list, let alone get a call up, baffles me...

If there is an opposition player with 10m, he is guaranteed to turn the ball over or put the nearest Blues player under pressure.
I honesty believe a fit athlete who has never played the game could be as good as Bower within 6 months of training.
Slow poor user of the ball.bad decision maker he is a keeper.

Ha, you idiot. Emu wasn't the worse tonight. At least he had a crack at taking the game on, not stand around like a fat council worker with a shovel in his arse which half a dozen of his mates did.

whipping boy much... geez if bower was terrible last night what were all his fellow defenders.. duigs,joseph,russell,jamo,hendo,gibbs... team sport people. We didnt lose because bower turned it over twice. We lost because we had two maybe three players beat or break even with there opponent.. Tbird would have been handy up forward last night but probably not at bowers expense..

Had more than twice the footy than Henderson and Jamison combined.

Can't question his work-rate. Turnovers happen in high pressure footy.

So what? They played on Riewoldt and Koschitzke who kicked how many goals?

Bower seemed to be playing on no one, which is concerning in itself, but also helps to explain why he got more disposals than Hendo and Jamo

Can't question his work-rate.
Again, so what? It's not a marathon it's a football game. Work-rate only gets you so far.

Turnovers happen in high pressure footy.
If you're willing to accept the rubbish he showed last night just because of "high pressure footy" then good for you. I'd prefer we won another AFL premiership in my lifetime.

Cool story bro. The crap he served up by foot last night (not for the 1st time mind you) was horrible and has no place in a side aiming to finish top 4.

his handballing was fine, pretty sharp actually.he screwed up two maybe three kicks.. one was when he received the ball from a kick in and played on kicked it about 30-40 metres to our player which was spoiled and it went out.The other one was about 4 mins from full time and he was running through the middle of the ground and he went wide to waite which wasnt a great decision but waite is our chf and if no one else was leading up at him which is very possible it wasnt that bad of an error.. the kick to simmo in the forward pocket wasnt perfect but still gave simmo a chance to mark it and simmo prob would mark that kick 9 out of 10 times.anyways we will know who is right by the weekend.if he gets dropped maybe he was worse than i thought but my money is on his few mates who failed to do anything...

Nothing against Bower, talented depth player.....but....the modern game demands crisp and judicious ball movement. Does not receive pass mark here. He does not play to his height or even strength. The only role that gives him a chance of best 22 is in defence. Yet he prefers to run off, play loose, rack up cheap possessions.
Gee that sounds similar to one B.Thornton who was burnt out as our 1 good tall defender for a few years. Lost the desire to defend week in week out. Thornton has the skill set to play swingman and has value up the ground and pinch hitting behind.
The same cannot be said for Emu. We have better outside players both current and developing. I was amazed when the match committee went for him over Watson after them having similar impact in NAB Cup. This to me has backfired, Bower in right circumstances can accumulate, but is not a genuine defender. Watson seems fragile mentally and has apparently dropped his bundle. While we would like our young players to have more mental fabric, I believe "pumping up his tyres" and giving him a shot was by far the best prospective outcome going forward. Emu can be a bit player and have his positive periods, but will never be a gun KPD, we have burned Watson...????????????????????

EMU is effectively an extra man playing for our better opponents - every time. Doesn't have to be marked by oppositon - they want him to have the ball in hand - percentage goals aginst us from Bower turnovers?

Can he improve and become an AA player for us?

Watson? Whatever is going on it isnt good for us. Last year he was included against Collingwood and Geelong - and pretty much fed to the wolves.

Would rather see Watson put into back pocket and learn - dont care how many mistakes he makes - he has a get out - he can kick it 60 meters on one leg. Maybe he would also learn how to crunch a big KPF - hea has the genuine size to do it.

Bower is a fingers crossed playerr - playing in defence - for as long as Laidler is away - simple as that.
