I don’t get Rohan at all. He has all the attributes required yet can’t get near it.

If I could run that fast, jump that high, mark that well, kick beautifully I would be a great of the game.

Does the ground swallow him up and hide him? The red hair should also stand out but I can never find him.
Yep, super frustrating player as skill wise he has more of it than 90% of players in the AFL. Like you said he is fast, a solid mark, makes good decisions when he has the ball in hand, is a very good kick both in field and a set shot and yet he has no ability at all to read the play and get in the right spots to actually get his hands on the ball.

Leon Davis is the main name that comes to mind, Charlie Dixon record would be as bad as Rohan's

Feel Gary is being unfairly criticised for his performance in the prelim.
Second quarter he gets a handball out from a Clayton Oliver tackle but Champion Data don't pick it up. So they basically shafted him out of half his possessions.

Did I hear right that Geelong are offering Gary "the gun" Rohan a new contract??
He has been a very good regular season addition for the Cats. His forward pressure and goal kicking are both very good. What do you do when you've got a handy player who wins you games in the home and away season but is borderline unplayable in a final?

Delist.

10 touches and a goal and a half per game is not "very good". It's pretty bog average. Add the fact he's 30 and is the worst finals player in history, what's the point of him?

I'm no Rohan fan and would be keen to see the back of him, but to put those stats into perspective, Georgiades had basically the same stats as Rohan this year (10 disp avg and 1.52 goals - 32 total) both played 21 games. He plays a valuable role, but for some bizarre reason forgets what to do in finals.

Georgiades is 19 years old.

Rohan is 30.

Georgiades will be 10 times the player Gary Rohan has ever been.

He kicked the 34th most goals in the league this year.

18 teams. 34th. So he'd be the 2nd leading goal kicker at most clubs. Was 3rd in line at the Cats. His pressure is good. He kicked a clutch goal to beat the Doggies.

I don't think you can act like nothing has changed and go in to finals as always, but there's a lot of nothing players on every clubs list including Geelong's and he's not the difference between the Cats being old or young.

If they can carry Josh Jenkins for 2 years they can recontract Rohan and try to work out what to do differently throughout the year.

Rhys Stanley and the ruck is a similar but probably worse situation to me because rucks are specialist positions. Rohan is at least versatile and there's other players to be used in his spot if the Cats want to.

I'm not at all but you can't compare a second year player to someone in his prime.
Ok I'm not making myself clear. Rohan and Georgiades had the same stats in 2021, Georgiades is lauded and an important cog in Port's forward line, but a Port supporter had called Rohan's stats bog average, and asked what the point of Rohan was. The point I'm making is that his stats are as 'good' as Port's second best forward, yes he sucks in finals and like I mentioned previously I'd rather him go, but statistically he provided the same as Georgiades did this year. The point that Georgiades is young and Rohan is not is irrelevant when looking at the single year stats. 30 is also hardly Rohan's prime

Georgiadis is rated to a different standard as he's still a teenager. As it is, he was still a fringe player. The debate for weeks was whether you drop MG, Marshall or Ladhams. He didn't recover from his hammy for the prelim but there was a good chance he wasn't going to be able to force his way back in straight away.

The fact that Rohan has the same stats as a second year forward is not something I'd be rating highly. I just don't know what the point of playing him as a 31 year old would be. Surely there's a youngster on the list who can kick a goal a game, working around the feet of Hawkins and Cameron?

I don't either and I hope we find a solution. We have Francis Evans who was playing well before injuring his foot so hopefully he'll be back in the side next season

What about Motlop who had a statistically worse season than Rohan, is the same age, played 1 great final against the Cats but was unsighted against the Dogs.

Surely he belongs in the same category.

Absolutely, I'm not sure if he's contracted next year, but if not I'd cut him. Depth player at best now

You dump. Cats are going to win 8 or 9 home games at the Cattery, and only need half a dozen other wins to be top 4.

They need players who are going to perform in finals. But I would be quite happy if they keep giving contracts to Dalhouse, Rohan, and Selwood.

Motlop has spent his entire career only performing well in the last half a dozen games of his contract and then managed to wrangle a new one.
