Is GWS's premiership window about to close?

I'm in shock seeing what i saw tonight.

I was at the game and it looked over after 10 minutes.

A team playing for finals playing the bottom side just came out giving no *s.

The disadvantage of having few fans and the few they have not being taken seriously as having a “voice” is on show now. The Giants are a team full of acts and individual players that media figures love, Toby Greene playing like a prick seems to have tapped right into the sweet spot of so many Victorian media that they’re happy to celebrate him and ignore the team’s performance. Without any fans to steer discussion, Cameron continues to scoot on by. Even the discussions around his contract feel more like ego / source strength confirmation bias for the journalists covering the story rather than any actual interest in if he should be coach or not.

Cameron can't coach, another two years of him will see this list in slow decline, window will shut without a flag.
Their bigger concern is probably the amount of players who have been linked with a move away this off season. If even half the rumours are true it would mean their list depth is about to take a serious hit and it'll be difficult for them to reload in this year's compromised draft.

They really need to start winning and attract people there... players and supporters...otherwise its gona end up ugly.

They need to start with a good coach to do this.

This is it for GWS. They can't leave their run any later than this. They must beat the Demons tonight and get the W over the Saints next week to guarantee finals. Lose one and they are relying on other results to fall their way in order to qualify and it's pretty unlikely enough results will fall their way to clinch a top 8 spot.

If they miss finals this season then genuine questions about their window shutting will emerge.

2 wins wouldn't guarantee top 8. They could win both and still have the Bulldogs pass them as the percentages are so close.

Agree with the above posters, to not make the 8 ( which looks likely now ) with that list is a deplorable effort... Leon is a very lucky man he just signed that contract.

Still think their best opportunity (we all knew they were going to lose last year’s Grand Final) was 2016. Their list was incredible, they were young and exuberant and they’d already knocked Sydney off once in that finals campaign.

This current iteration looks a shell of itself. The defensive structuring and effort today for a team with finals on the line was deplorable.

I’m starting to think these million dollar contracts are going to come back to bite them with so many players out of contract and the team seriously teetering. Why would someone like Zac Williams sign on for 300k less than his market value in this team? What incentive are any of Caldwell, Hately or Perryman going to have to stay?

This GWS veneer of future supremacy is really starting to erode, and that could cripple the squad if they can’t get back to top form.

Re-signing Cameron is also looking worse each week.
