If you hated both clubs playing in the Grand Final, does this give you an excuse to totally ignore that game and/or be oblivious to who won?

Should you have to support a team? Is it better to not watch it at all rather than be neutral?

I was in England for my brother's wedding in 2000 and missed the Ess V Melb GF. It was the first GF I haven't seen on TV since it started in 1977. As it turned out it wasn't much of a game.

In answer, I suggest going to GF party and not watching the game! Have a few drinks and hang out in the kitchen or the backyard as see what happens.....

I wouldn't watch the celebrations at the end, but watching clashes and match-ups is always worthwhile ... until teh inevitable blow-out occurs.

If you're in a group then there is usually one person to have a good natured bait with at this time.

It'd be hard to get too excited about a Carlton v Collingwood grand final. But if (perish the thought) it ever happened, I'm sure I'd watch.

You have to watch the GF. And play kick-to-kick at half time. It is written.

Exactly. It's like watching the Super Bowl in the USA-- if you don't do it, you risk getting ostracized by your peers and the masses...

It's something you simply do...

And besides, you don't have to have a passionate interest for a particular team on Grand Final day. Is it wrong just to hope for good entertainment value? Methinks not... and I think Saturday's game will be entertaining.

Cheers,
William

You have to watch the Grand Final, it is virtually a law.

The one thing you have to do however is if it is two teams you despise, say Collingwood and Port, then think of happy posiblities......such as the demolition crew gets the dates wrong and demolishes the stand at 2pm Saturday instead of Sunday!

Anybody found wandering the streets at the opening bounce should be arrested, & then shot. No trial no jury.

Haven't missed a GF since the comp became the AFL. Half time kick to kick is required by law.

Last year 3 of my best mates had to go to a wedding, at the exact time of the GF. I mean, who in their right mind gets married on Grand Final day?!?!?!? I went round to my mates' place, we all watched the first quarter. They went off to the GF, and then called me from the church. I relayed scores and great plays to them for the second quarter. They managed to g et to a TV for the second half. I've seen the photo's, there are deadset about 30 people crammed around this little 15" TV whilst the reception goes on in the background :D:D I blame the 'wife' Only she could be so evil as to force this on her husband to be. Damn it man, grow some balls, could have had it the next day!:D

Well how would you feel then if a close (non-AFL supporting) relative has his birthday party AT THE EXACT TIME OF THE GRAND FINAL? I have to go but I'm not bitter, honest ;)

Do what I do if the out-laws have a barby on a Sunday, go straight to the TV & don`t move. I have warned everybody I know, don`t invite me to ANYTHING on a Saturday through the footy season, cause I aint going.
