i mean really...

i guess playing with a broken back and being our best player in a semi final doesn't rate highly with some people

Im not saying he didnt play well in the semi but that was 7 months ago. I may have asked the question in my OP a bit too early but i am interested to know peoples opinion of how long does have to perform before he's in the cross hairs of the selectors. To me; he looks a different player to last year and im worried his crash and bash style has vaught up to him

I guess you're entitled to your opinion.

In my opinion this is the most ridiculous thread posted on this board in some time.

3 games vs sub-par teams.

The limited TOG would be is a result of being managed. No need to play him on the ball too much while Scooter/Masten/Shuey are dominating. No need to play him forward when we're up by 10 goals.

Rather than look at it as a slight on his performance... think of it as 'another gear' that we just haven't needed to kick into so far this season.

If he passes a fitness test with flying colours he should be in our side every week no question. Maybe we should give him a negating role this week to mix things up a bit.

Thought he started to get better in the second game, was expecting a big game last weekend but he got injured.

Hopefully he is ready to go this weekend, we will need him.

Too early for this thread, still playing crap round 12 it's time to ask questions.

I'd want him to start performing a but before round 12...

Nope. If he's injured, rest him. If he's fit - he plays ... I personally think it is a wonderful sign for our depth and performance of our other mids that a guy like Kerr is currently 4th or 5th in our centre square midfielders.

Yes, if Kerr is still underperforming after 7 or 8 rounds, then maybe would look at it but as others have said has enough credits from last season (plus his entire career up until 2007) to get an extended run before thinking about getting dropped.

My thoughts are it's not a form problem its a fitness problem so dropping him to the wafl wouldn't help. However I'd want him to be fully fit at training for him to be selected this week.

+1. Nonsense suggestion.

I guess thats a problem, Swift would be the replacement I assume.

and there lies your problem, a player that has gone backwards to become the scrapegoat of our team to replace one of our stars who has been underdone and tagged.

all of swifts talent exists in 1/3 of kerrs pinkie. that is saying something.

From here:

Daniel Kerr has been battered from pillar to post this AFL season

Kerr has copped several heavy knocks in the opening three rounds - some off the ball - in a slow start to the season for the 28-year-old.

Masten said the attention Kerr received was allowing the likes of himself, Scott Selwood and Luke Shuey to enjoy greater freedom.

Says it all really.

If Kerr plays and the opposition's tag moves to someone else, will Kerr, with his battered body, be able to do what Masten, Scooter and Shuey have been doing in collecting 25-30 disposals and 1-3 goals? In the past, the answer would've been a definitive yes, but nowadays, I'm not so certain.

I can't even believe this thread is still going it is so ridiculous.

It is clearly obvious that Daniel Kerr has been carrying at least one injury (back/shoulder) which both John Worsfold and himself have mentioned and that is he also underdone in terms of fitness.

He was tagged heavily in the first game and substituted. It happens. Look at the job Scott Selwood did on Chris Judd twice last year.

In the second game against Melbourne he played well - 26 possessions and a goal sums that up.

I sat next to the interchange area on Sunday in the match against GSW and Kerr was puffing from the first time he came off unlike his team-mates. He is clearly not as fit as the rest of team.

He copped a kick to the right calf late in the second quarter. If Dalziell hadn't gotten injured too, Kerr would have been substituted at half time. He was forced to play on and deliberately didn't kick and most of the time on the half-forward flank.

We all know he comes to the fore in big games. If he is fit this week I would expect him to play well.

He also cops the best and heaviest tag every week and is hit regularly off the ball.

Dropping him to the WAFL makes about as much sense as voting for the federal labour party at the next election. It will achieve nothing but a negative outcome.

and a NBN. I refuse to vote Liberal while that tool is in charge. Nothing like having a policy which is based off opposing the current ruling party.

I just want be clear about this....so he's carrying an injury, is not fit enough, is getting very low possessions and the only reason you want him in is to take the attention away from others. Yet you expect him to play a blinder this week despite all that?

Interesting...

Well, you are a Fremantle supporter so I wouldn't expect you to be clear about anything besides that fact that your side will always be underachievers.

He was tagged very well in the first match and subbed at three-quarter time, hence the low possessions.

He picked up 26 possessions in the second match, which isn't low.

He was injured with about 10 minutes to go in the second quarter and could hardly run, hence the low possession count.

Most AFL players carry injuries. It is the nature of the sport. It is not netball.

I never said I wanted him in the side to take the best tagger, I was merely pointing out a fact. I did say that he was a proven big match player time and time again.

And yes, I do expect to raise his game this week because quality players generally play well against quality opposition.

Do you want to be 'clear' on why your side will be like St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs and underachieve year after year?

Still only an ok game imo. 1 tackle, 2 marks, 3 clearances and 26 posessions at 59% DE. Why are the top line mids in the AFL that get tagged every week consitantly getting 25+ disposals and Kerr isnt?

The Fremantle poster makes perfect sense. You say he is injured, unfit, getting low posessions, not tackling, not marking, not kicking goals but you are happy for him to play? Why dont we let Priddis cop the tag, he still gets his 25+ disposals, 5+ tackles and 5+ clearances and bring in someone that can get the ball?

No need to start having a dig a me. I just asked a valid question to clarify the logic that you're employing. You list so many negatives about Kerr but then express the hope of a positive aspect shining through..eg he always gets up for big games.

It's interesting that you don't see the negatives as possibly detracting from his ability to deliver the one positive.

You were having a dig at an opposition player on an opposition board so toughen up princess.

The reply you got was spot on, first two games Kerr was servicable without staring in games we won easily. Against GWS he copped a cork in the calf and would have been subbed off it Dalziell hadn't been injured. He stayed on but couldn't sprint and was in 'save your body mode'. No problem with this at all especially with the game well and truely won.

It will be interesting this week against the Hawks, I'm expecting a much more fired up Kerr to impact the game as we all know he can. If he gets tagged I'd put him on Mitchell as a run with player like he did last year on Judd for periods of that game. Either Hawks let another mid run free or they change tactics.

If you read what I wrote I didn't have a dig at Kerr at all. I was just questioning the logic of a poster that outlines all the negatives about him but then insists he should play.

Close game to tip but I'm going for your team due to home ground.

Yeah that was very precious Obeanie, it was a fair enough post imo Wasnt having a dig at the player at all more to do with the post outlining all kerr's negatives at the moment seemingly outweighed by Kerr being able to lift for the big games.

I wasn't listing the negatives. People on this board never read posts properly and go off half-cocked. I simply stated facts, which people on this board don't like because it gets in the way of their ignorant opinion.
