AFL should get rid of all gambling, alcohol and junk food sponsorships.
Also get rid of Toyota, they pollute the earth and make people lazy and hence fatter.

Also ban Swisse, most of their products are unnecessary and make you poorer.

Actually, being back that season in the eighties when the ABC had the broadcast rights, no ads at all.

ah yes because we know getting fat leads to serious financial problems, crime, depression and issues with in the family.
the only thing a "problem coke drinker" does is increase the tax bill through associated medical costs.

You've got to laugh at those who claim that problem gambling only effects a small number of people.
they use lines like 600,000 Australians play the pokies at least once every week.
that only 16% of pokie players are problem gamblers.

what they don't mention is that problem gamblers account for 40% of all funds that enter a poker machine, If coke-a-cola and pepsi derived 40% of their revenue from addicts the health minister would be under siege.

the false equivalence on this one is strong.

By default I would say it is involved but not the cause of said crash.
But if death occurred completely before any crashing began (or even before the car started sliding off the road), then it could be seen that there was absolutely no involvement in said crash.

So the figure is probably more like 99.913% than his proposed 100%.

LOL :D

I find it quite weird how cigarettes are looked at like its the most evil thing on the planet.

Pokies, fast food and alcohol can all bring a persons life to its knees but cigarette advertising is a huge no no. I'm a non smoker but just find it strange that darts aren't back in the advertisement world. I mean if you're going to promote getting fat, pumping money into a machine, possible alcoholic....then why not smokes. I'm just saying they all can **** a persons life.

It's all about choice.
Probably because absolutely nothing good can come from smoking cigarettes, even moderation is horrendous for you.

A couple of cheeky bets here and there and a relaxing beer to unwind do no where near the amount of damage 1 puff will do to you.

Yes and ban betting sponsorships whilst they're at it. The amount of exposure Crown Bet and Lads get each game is ridiculous. The rise of sports gambling is having a huge impact on the young supporters- some odds are just too good to pass up.

Considering 63% of Australians are overweight I'd say the percentage of soft drink consumers with weight related health issues is much higher.

You're really comparing losing money to a life long disease like diabetes ? Your kidding right ?

We run on glucose which can be created from protein and fatty acids via gluconeogenisis.
Excess energy makes you fat.

If you consume more kilojoules than you use each day you will put on weight. Doesn't matter what you eat fat, protein or carbs, If the pluses exceed the minuses you will put on weight.
Yeah yeah yeah, we eat too much fat.

Western diet = lots of animal products = fat campaigners
Most diets = lots of starch = normal sized people

While we are it let's put beverages behind screens so nobody can be attracted by the pretty colours like they must have been with cigarettes

Everyone is gonna die, and heck if everyone looked the same, slim, fit and full of energy the world would be a boring place. Live however the heck you want, people don't need footy players or the AFL to tell them what to drink and certain even if they discontinued sponsorship sales of coca cola would not drop one bit.

Gatorade is the real killer. At least everyone knows coca cola and pepsi aren't good for you, but from my short time working as a personal trainer, the amount of overweight people who do a little exercise then drink a bottle of gatorade 'because it's healthy' is truly sad and sickening.
