Whenever I picture a Collingwood fan, I think of a small kid in the 1920s wearing a cap - you know the big ones like the baggy green. And he's a smartarse. He can take anything that the Toffs from Carlton can dish out to him and he can give it back in spades.
And I think of the guy in the outer - in the Rush stand - sitting among the visiting fans and listening to their various rants ..... and then following up with smartarse comments that take the piss.
To me, Collingwood fans can dish it out but they can take it too. There's no question that it's open season on Magpie fans on the main board where every other team's fans dumps on them and most of the moderators ban Magpie posters at the drop of a hat.
Even though I've been banned for a number of BF no-nos, I've never thought seeking out protection from the moderators. In the past, I've been told that I wasn't liked and there's been endless accusations of trolling but none of it has killed me. I see all the posts as part of the rich tapestry that is BF.
In fact, I go further. I would feel less of a magpie fan if I didnt take comments from opposition supporters on the chin. As far as I'm concerned, let em have a go. Isnt that what it means to be a Pie supporter. I tend to wince a bit when outsiders get accused of trolling when they post on the Magpie forum. As far as I'm concerned, being despicable human beings is a part of their lot in life. It's like complaining when a shark bites off your leg. It's what sharks do. I get more unnerved if opposition fans are actually polite and open-minded.
