I've posted this in the main board, thought i'd also ask here.

After the win by Priddis in the Brownlow last night my wife and i are not sure if we have something of value. My wife placed a small bet on Priddis about 5 weeks ago on fixed odds- she had 5 each way on him, she's not a big gambler.

Now yesterday morning we were flying back from Perth after spending the weekend there with family and friends, and who should be on our flight, none other than the now 2014 Brownlow winner Matt Priddis. My wife decided to get Matt to sign the betting slip, which he duly did.

Now the problem we have is, will the ticket be worth something one day, and our concern is that if we decide to collect will TAB keep the ticket, then we lose the chance to have something of valuable possibly ?

Would it be worth keeping and not collecting on it,bearing in mind we will only collect $85 for the win, if the TAB won't let us keep it after collecting.

yeah you can get the ticket back easy, run it through a pub machine and pick it up from the other side

Or go to one with the auto machines, you scan your ticket, it credits the amount to the screen and then you can cash out. It'll print out a seperate ticket you take to the counter

Put the question another way.

You have the autograph of arguably the greatest athlete that ever lived on a momento of his greatest achivement...

I'd be framing it personally

The real question is why were you flying Virgin?

Because they are better than Qantas and Tiger. Plus i'm velocity member, and gets me cheap flights.

Flew to the gold coast game for 43 bucks using points and pay.

Nah

Business class on Virgin for East/West flights are now generally better than Qantas. However the new A330 fitouts will be rolled out from December making Qantas comfortably the best again.

The Tab attendant will usually give the used ticket back to you if you ask them . Just ask first to see how they roll .
"Will you give it back?"
"Sure"
"OK, here you go"
"Thanks"
"Can I have my ticket back now?"
"What ticket?"

That's what we plan to do now.

Like he said. Go to one of the automatic machines and scan the ticket. All this does is scan it whilst you still have possession of the original ticket. Credit will appear on the screen and now you can click to cash out. This will print out a ticket with credit on it. Use this ticket to cash in. Now you have both your winnings and the signature on the original ticket. Win win hahahaha

God yes, Virgin are a loong way in front of qantas IMO. I fly business and they are not really comparable.

When I tell my son we are going interstate his usual response is "We better not be going on Qantas!"

Yes he is a spoilt little shit, but Qantas has already lost the next generation!

Magnum if the ticket was mine and you couldn't get it back if you claimed the bet, I would keep it. It might not be worth anything in a monetary sense, but still it is a great conversation starter and a nice momento that no one else has.
