I'm obviously biased but I think Ling Jong is the most improved. To see where he he has come from 3 years ago is amazing, I didn't think he was capable. He looked all but a certainty to be delisted half way through last year. I saw a bit of Crisp last year and was impressed, think he's just getting more attention this year because he's gone to one of the biggest clubs rather than improved.

He was described by Lions fans as a fringe player, and your mods quickly hailed this trade as a success.

It seems that it was in fact very poor trading by the Lions if you haven't blinked at what he's produced at the Pies.

6 games last year, he was a fringe player - he was somewhat entrenched by the end of the year but it's hard to call someone who played 6 games for the season automatic best 22. Looking at the season as a whole fringe is accurate.

I would have had him in my personal 22 to start 2015, throwing a blanket over supporters is just lazy. We wanted Beams and we got him without losing anybody we said we wouldn't at the start, I'd suggest that was the reason it was considered a success.

Far too early to call if the trade was (more of) a success for one side or the other. All we know is we both lost something and got something we value.

I think he's been good at the Pies. About as good as he was finishing off last season. I'm not at all surprised and I'm happy for him. He's not the most improved player in the competition at all which is the original question you asked. Off the top Tom McDonald has him covered by a country mile. Extra visibility doesn't equal improvement.

I understand you're up and about after beating the Blues but it's a poorly disguised attempt at a rile up. You're not talking about Crisp's output, you're saying Brisbane fans should be upset. I'm not. I'm glad Crisp seems to be continuing his solid form and I'm glad we have Beams.

Fourth year on an AFL list, and getting the most consistent role and gametime of his career so far. If he had any talent, he was bound to show it in this situation based on opportunity alone.

Although he's a year older (and has spent one year less on an AFL list, too), I'd probably rate Adam Oxley's improvement higher, or at least as more unexpected. Just feels like he's coming from further back (rookie lister from QLD) to be where he is now - a very damaging winger/half back over the first five weeks of the year.

Crisp is a 21 year old kid who has played 23 games.

Came in for the last 6 games of 2014 and averaged 18 touches a game. Has played the first 5 touches of 2015 and is averaging about the same. Not sure you can be 'most improved' with such a small base to improve upon. His name wouldn't even come up if he wasn't part of the Beams trade.

We're also only 4/5 games into the season anyway, but someone like McDonald or Pittard who have played 50 games or so and shown a bit but have really started to step up in their positions are better candidates.

If this is what he was showing, then trading him, 5 and 25 for Beams ( + $800,000) was a massive gamble.

Doing all the right things. perfect body shape for modern football, perfect age for recruiting. Collingwood really went out of their way in the off season to change the mix, and lose the over concenntration of short people and instead find taller midfielders. Great trade him to pick him up as an apparent "afterthought" in the Beams deal when clearly he was one guy they were after all along.

Great pedigree in junior football, cleary wasted by the worst team in the competition. Same applies to he ex Brisbane teammate who as the sub came on and scored 54 Dreamteam points in little over a quarter of football.

As for thread title....who cares really. Its true we havent played anybody decent yet, no 2014 finallists. In the next fortnight we face two but two who have slid....Geelong and Richmond....then GC. We could be 7-1 before we start playing anybody decent (North) then its Melbourne and GWS. 9-2 at the turn beckons!!!

Patty Karnesiz may turn out to be the most improved player in the competition. If only he could manage a spot in our starting 21. Yesterday he had more better stats than most of the Carlton team and he was only there for a quarter. With De Goey and Greenwood yet to come, Brisbane are the gift that keep on giving.
