No, only a fool would question the merit of picking up Macrae for a bag of chips. It's a sensational deal for St Kilda, and they did extremely well exploiting Beveridge's stupidity and incompetence.

Only an unintelligent poster would attempt to correlate a career spanning across two clubs under very different circumstances with Beveridge's tenure at the Bulldogs.

I also notice you are choosing not to address any arguments specifically, instead opting to attack me directly like certain other reactionary posters.

By all means keep believing I'm related to Macrae if it helps you feel better, but at the end of the day, I'm hardly the only footy observer who understands how bad of a coach Beveridge is.

They are very different circumstances because Voss is not a very good coach, whereas Bevo has 2 Grand Finals and a Premiership on his resume. This is amongst multiple re-builds.

You may not be related to Macrae, it would just explain your weird obsession with Macrae being traded and Beveridge as a coach. Why does it bother you so much? You don’t support either Dogs or Saints. It’s pretty unhinged.

I'd rather give a man 10 years with some control over his football club then 5 men no control over that same time.
Whilst I have disagreed with many of Beveridge's decisions over those years a bad coach doesn't make two grand finals let alone win one.

Macrae is clearly still a good player but who is he playing in the midfield at the Dogs ahead of in Bont, Libba, Treloar or Richards?

It was a mutual decision to allow him to play his best role at a club that has no good midfielders. We picked up an adequate replacement in Kennedy for half the cost, three years younger and a far better ability to play as a half forward.

Win win.

Hardly mentioned among the games best mids but leading the comp for stoppage clearances and contested possessions so far this season at the end of round 4. Also 2nd in the comp for score involvements and total disposals. Has filled a hole in our midfield when it comes to stoppages where previously it was Steele and then a decent gap to the next best.

Dunno if he was overrated in 2021 when this thread was made but he's underrated now I'd say.
