I've had the slows on Pickett due to consistency, but he's 5 games away from having an incredible year for a mid/forward.
He's 5 games off having a 45 goal season on his current goal average, while averaging 20 disposals.
To put that into perspective, Cyril's best years (3 x All Australian) don't come close.
Is certainly paid like a top 10 player tho.Finished on 40 goals and under 20 disposals for the season.
The final month is what hurt him. Dropped away as was expected. Simply cannot play at that level for entire season and it is why his disposal tally will drop off next year. He is a flash in the pan highlights reel. Certainly not capable of becoming a consistent 18-20 disposal midfielder/forward.

That contract Could really come back to haunt the dees.
Ala Oliver’s
Serong, Daicos, Butters, Rankine, Merrett, Ablett jnr, Mark Lecras, Akermanis to name a few.It will come back to hurt them.
Seriously, other than Greene, how many league footballers in the modern era listed under 5ft'11 have become perennial household names and worthy of 900k per annum?
Rioli, Betts, Neale? and it gets thin thereafter.
Actually 4- 5 of the top 7 in the brownlow are under 6 ft for the last 2 years. It will come back to hurt them.

He is 24yr and improved year on year. Players are better managed these days with longer careers. Just had a season av of 19.6 disposals and 2 goals in pretty tumultuous year. What makes you think he's a flash in the pan?Finished on 40 goals and under 20 disposals for the season.

may aswell since Daicos & Sheezel have one.Can we also turn this thread into - Kozzy Pickett - Can he be the GOAT
Rubbish. Everyone is jealous of Geelong because of their continued success. I wish my club was good enough to use their resources as well as the pussies.Well ****, not all of us are able to pay our players unders on the books because they're get farm land, endorsements, etc. off the books (which the AFL somehow approves). Should be an asterisk next to the 2022 premiership.

They are not 6ft and over. Daicos I don't believe no way he is 6ft. Butters 181, Ablett 182, Le Cras 182.Daicos, Butters, Ablett, LeCras were all 6ft' and over.
And I don't really assess greatness by Brownlow medals as they are a midfielders award and the likes of Carey, Matthews, Bontempelli have never won it despite being the best in the competition for a number of years.
And Serong, is he really a household name. I mean certainly not here in Victoria he's not.

Serong is a star player, 24 Vice captain 2 AA 2 b and f rising star and about to add another b and f and possibly an AA.
I don't agree with you, name a player that can move like him and do the things he does? He has added the ability to go to the midfield and get 25 touches in a game as well. I think he will have a period of time in his career where he is the best player in the game. He is very very strong and explosive. Zac Merrett is another player that is short and has been a success. I see Pickett as a player like Ablett snr that plays a lot bigger than he is because his speed and hardness is superior. I would pay him 900 k a year with no hesitation, genuine game winner.Pickett is 171cm tall. Name another player who became and all time champion at that stature in the modern era?
As I said, very few under the height of 179cm have gone on to become household names.
Daicos is 184cm tall.
Butters is four inches taller than Kosi and plays like it as a bulldozing midfielder. Ablett was 182cm and 90kg (big bodied mid) and LeCras, again, 184cm tall.
Diesel Williams would be worth 1.5 million if he was running around today. Akermanis likewise but not many more then on.
Simply put, paying Kosi Pickett almost a million per year is ridiculous money.

I just mean his presence for size, people know he is coming. He averages a couple of contested marks every year.
If contested marks were available in the 80's and early 90's, Ablett would have averaged two contested marks every game. And remember, Ablett was matched up on a couple of opponents at any given time. Often had to smash the pack and bring the ball to ground. Pickett waits at the base of the pack to pounce on the loose ball. Completely different type of player.
Anyway we have different opinions on this player. When I see the players demanding 900 k I would take him without a moment of hesitation. I could have 2 of him or 1 TDK haha !He averages a couple of contested marks every year.
