Kerr is 29yrs old ,injured and has lost pace for him to be tagged every week and copping all the niggling dirty tagging tactics whilst still trying to have a impact ..So it is understandable why he does`nt break as many lines anymore .

I voted no, and i'm surprised more people didn't do the same.
As much as i love him and his line breaking, tackle breaking prowess... Kerr AND Priddis are more important.

Kerr definitely, Priddis probably.

Ask yourself, where the f**k was shuey when we needed him to stand up in tight games like the richmond one? Or the hawthorn game at home? Daniel Kerr almost single handedly one us BOTH those games.

Where the f**k was he when we played like garbage in tazzy against the roos and priddis lifted us over the top in a nailbiter? With cox's brilliance too obviously.

Against the tigers he played probably his worst game ever, sooked all day and did nothing overly awesome that game apart from try his stupid ducking trick 5 times. We needed him.

Against the hawks he got injured i think?
Against the roos?
Against collingwood this year? Kerr again standing up in that one.

Until he can emulate his brilliant feats on DECENT opposition other then these lower teams that we bully at home ie bulldogs, suns, port etc... he won't be our most important.

Until i see him stand up in BIG games when we need him, he stand behind priddis and kerr
Still love him though.

Don't hate me...

maybe not the best but most important as he isnt like all others (ie slow). having him is like throwing a cat amongst the pigeons. If anything, opposition have to think about something different. we are a bit one paced, predictable. we have no other midfielders who can take the players on like he does.

Bit harsh to use the Hawthorn game as an example, he did get badly hurt - so bad he could barely run off, and then managed to come back on ASAP to try and win us the game, and was getting in and under just the same. He's not a champion yet, but he will be.

I'm not bashing on him, just saying why he ISN'T the most important player as yet. IMO

When he stand up in crunch games and carries us over the line like Priddis and Kerr do, we can talk.

My vote is Priddis too. Kerr also before Shuey.

I was convinced it was going to be Scott Selwood after the first few months of the season. Not sure what happened there.

Yeah what's the go there?

End of last year and the beginning of this year he was turning into a damaging force. Strong, smart and improving his attack.

Now he's gone missing. It makes no sense. He might be carrying a niggle. He can't even seem to stick a tackle; which isn't like him at all.

Kind of makes me think he still might be hurting from that shoulder knock.

Eh?

Your sh*tting me. Someone actually rated one of my posts?? Get around me!!!!!
I didn't rate that last one TBH!:p

Seriously, are you really having a go at Shuey for the Hawks game when he got a couple of very heavy bumps to his AC joint, and was clearly in pain, yet played on despite the fact that he could barely raise his arm?

He should not have played the Richmond game, but again soildered on in obvious distress after going into the game sore and again getting caught on the shoulder.

He hasn't even reached the 50 game mark yet, he will only get better.

Kerr is great in the big games, but also gets tagged out of games and has no influence at all on a regular basis.

i think at this stage, he is our most "damaging" midfielder.. not forgetting he kicks more goals than our other midfielders too.... i would go as far as saying, in the next few years, him and nic nat are our two most valuable players.... they play well we win.

they dont. we don't win...

Fair enough, I agree. But it's not for lack of grit and effort, I think he just isn't at that level yet.

I'm not whinging about shueys in the game he was injured, just pointing out another game where KERR stood up and won the game for us again, hence why i think he's most important.

I'm not paying out on shueys poor performances, just highlighting why he isn't most important to me yet.

Kerr gets tagged out, but it's usually in games where it doesn't really matter? If that makes sense? Games where we don't really need him or something. Like against melbourne, giants and most recently brizzy this year. He dominates when we need him, but seems to vanish against shit teams. Which to be honest, i don't really care about.

Come finals Kerr will stand up yet again. Hopefully the shuecat can do the same.

The tag still goes to Daniel Kerr, so I assume the opposition coaches still think it is Kerr.

That's the only reason I answered no. No doubt he is a jet/going to be one and i'm glad he's on our team, but until he beats tags consistently i'll stick with Kerr.

In saying that I guess Kerr doesn't beat tags either :p

Our midfield is way too slow imo, and Shuey showed that. He is so explosive out of the middle and we really missed that the last few weeks, the tap to him, and the handball to Hill for an open shot on goal was virtually impossible to achieve against crows and the swans because we didn't have anyone fast enough to do it. Priddis has dropped in form, and so has Selwood, so our lack of midfield depth is a little concerning since a really good midfield can single handily win you flags (west coast 06). So yes, Shuey is our most valued midfielder, without his speed, we lack that option to break away from packs.

But how does our midfield get better in the future? Our draft picks won't be high enough this year to grab any stars i believe, do we push Lecras to HF so he can push up into the mid field? Do we try and get someone in the free agency? Once kerr retires, which from what I can see, aint too far off, who are we going to replace him with?

Masten, Gaff and Sheppard will continue in their development to the midfielders we know they can be. We definitely need to draft or trade in a ready made gun midfielder to take us to that next level. Coniglio - that is all we need IMO.

Naitanui Coniglio Shuey Selwood Masten Gaff Sheppard would definitely be good enough to match it with the best.

It's hard to argue that Kerr has proven consistently that he is THE man in big games.

But having said that, we had 2 big games in the past few weeks vs Swans and Crows and Kerr couldn't do it for us. Presumably largely because Shuey's absence threw our entire midfield balance out.

Hence I maintain that Shuey is, week to week, our most importantant player. Without him in the side there are very few games we can win. Whereas without Kerr I think we can still beat all but a few teams.
