Serious question.
  • 2011: Marc Lock - Inaugural club captain in our TAC Cup & VFL years. Played one AFL game for us in 2011 and was delisted at the end of that season.
  • 2012-16: Jaeger O'Meara - Started his AFL career as promising as any high end draftee and followed it up with a good second season, despite playing injured. He then spent the following two seasons on the sidelines and then requested a trade to Hawthorn after telling Cochrane to his face that he was staying.
  • 2017-20: Pearce Hanley - Seemed like a solid/experienced recruit at the time but tragedy struck literally within hours of his first game for us when his brother passed away, which sent Hanley home to Ireland for half the season. He was never really the same player upon returning to Australia and struggled with injuries/form for close to three years before retiring at the end of 2020.
  • 2021: Hugh Greenwood - Played his first season with us wearing the #21 jumper and put together a fantastic first season which saw him lead the league in tackles and finish fourth in our BnF. He then moved into the #1 jumper for the 2021 season, which once again started well but a PCL injury ended his season early. We all know what happened after that.
How do we have such bad luck with one specific jumper number? Is it cursed? It feels cursed to me...

Thoughts?
