guys ive said it many many times , he is our best but if he set a target to lay 6 tackles a game these threads wouldnt be posted

I think he means if Pav tackled more people wouldn't question his credentials as captain. I think Pav does need to show more physicality and desperation to set an example to the rest of the team. Yesterdays bump on the wing was great, but that's the sort of thing we need him to do more often.

He's a wonderful player but he just doesn't have that aura of intimidation about him that Carey had and J. Brown has. And thats exactly what our team needs from it's leader at the moment. Every player needs to start attacking contests like their life depends on it and it's got to start from the top.

I really thought he would be a great leader, but from the outside looking in, this doesn't seem to be the case.

It was Bell who once again lifted the side yesterday.

Bell was playing like utter garbage until the last quarter though. I'm sure if he was captain, people would be saying "where was captain Bell when the game was there to be won?"

That's a bit harsh! He was quite good before the last quarter. He was throwing himself in regularly and running hard to give options even though he was being tagged by arguably the best tagger in the game - remember what he did to Kerr last week?

Very harsh on Bell Kenny, if you've got it taped, have another look mate I think you'll change your opinion.

I find it rather odd that anyone could take a swipe at pav. Week in, week out pav has to put up with the flood, poor delivery & 2 opposition players swinging off each arm.

Belly was well held in the first half with only 3 kicks & 3 handballs but fought back to finished the game with 22 possies.

Headland finished with 7 kicks 4 handpasses for the game - another week effort from the sooky la la.

I love Bell mate, and wasn't trying to sound like I was having a go at him. But I think he was very poor in the first 3 quarters. Ling totally outplayed him in the first half.

Bell was then moved in the third quarter for memory to try get more of the ball but and to mind someone but he missed several targets.

His last quarter was unreal though.

I was just trying to say that people will find a way to criticise someone no matter who it is. Give Pavlich a go.... he is the face of our club, our best player, the player who speaks best with the media.... for all we know he is injured. I've heard Pavlich speak to the playing group before and he does it very well.

He only seems to do any talking/pointing/clapping after he's kicked a goal.

I think he should be captain, however he doesnt seem to really 'gee' up the boys when they need it..

having watched all but yesterdays freo games, i admit i expected a lot more from pav that what i've seen this year. maybe he's too young? then again, not all great players make great leaders, and not all great leaders are great players. a little off the topic, but why isn't belly captain this year?

To keep Pavlich at the club!

One of the things I think missing from Pav's captains role is that he does not seem to question the umpires on behalf of the team. You often saw Peter Bell, along with other captains, approach the umpires during games breaks, asking for clarification (not that it ever us did any good).

Don't get me wrong I think Pav is a great leader, a natural leader on and off the field, just a different type of leader. I would like to see him be a bit more vocal on the field though.

You aren't allowed to do that anymore.

Ok, thanks, I didn't know that and it's totally ridiculous. It should be the captain and only the captain who can approach the umpires and not to abuse or dispute decisions, just ask for clarification. Every other team sport in the world allows captains to talk with match officials.

God, this game gets me annoyed sometimes and most of it is as a result of the AFL over officiating.
