Is Sydney destined to be the next Fitzroy?

OP clearly was not around in early 90's when Swans were genuinely in trouble. They actually brought about priority picks into being just to get them off the mat. They are so far from those desperate times it is not funny.

Yet only 9th in the league for total memberships. Fairly pointless graph

Classically fair weather supporter base. Let’s see if they hang around for the grind of a rebuild

hey troll membership went up this year

A genuine concern

The Swans fall from grace since the removal of COLA has raised the possibility that the club is incapable of success without AFL assistance

Is their future in greater jeopardy than we realise?

You cannot stay at the top forever. Sydney have been in the finals almost every single year for the last 20.

Brisbane were the next (same) Fitzroy 2 years ago and now they are playing key finals.

Swans will get a top 5 pick this year, soon enough they will snag another academy gun for SFA, they will pinch a few free agents and they will be back.

Having said that the Buddy contract was stupid at the time and it is a significant obstacle for them now.

If Sydney are the next Fitzroy, what does that make Carlton?

The old University?

Once he worries about his own club be can take.all the shots he likes

Why would that matter? Can you not critique a club unless your club is at an equal or above level? Are you unable to critique North Melbourne, because Fremantle finished lower?

I agree with you, and was being sarcastic.
Posters throw out the 'worry about your own club first' as a defense mechanism. We don't know how much he has worried about his own club prior to making the comment.

Far from pointless, you do realise clubs have other revenue streams than memberships right? Sydney is a powerhouse club, particularly the last 10 years. Now if you’d made this thread about GWS or GCS......

Sydney is owned and controlled by the AFL and are not GWS and are still being punished for the Buddy trade.

They go nowhere next year too.

Just posted a $500,000 loss, despite a 60000 strong membership base, and crowds over 30000 on average....

The road to extinction is on. U heard it here first
