AFLW star Tayla Harris could reportedly be lost to football over a $150,000 dispute with her club Carlton.

The 24-year-old is the most high-profile player in the league, but after a hot and cold 2021 season her worth to Carlton has been put under the microscope.
The Herald Sun reported Wednesday night, Harris is asking for the club to double her salary as a result of her star power.

So is there anyone out there (with the exception of Ned Guy) who thinks Tayla Harris is worth almost $17,000 per game?

I understand as someone who has her first name spelled with a 'y' in it, her employment options in later life are likely limited.
But given the number of female players who receive 4/5s of SFA and all the female players that paved the way for her spending the bulk of their careers playing for the privilege of playing at state league level, should she pull her underperforming head in just a little?

Note: Darcy Vescio is a far superior player on her own team.

If the AFLW players went on strike for equal pay, the AFL would give it to them. Maybe they're not selling as many tickets as the AFL, but they're still worth a lot for the brand.

I seem to remember the AFL players threatening to strike recently, so it wouldn't be unprecedented.

Harris came onto the scene with a big mark highlight at Brisbane, declared her love for Brisbane then moved to Carlton and has arguably done more work building her brand than her game.

As far as marketable goes, yes she is, because she is in a lot of marketing - she is one of the handful of names people can think of but like Mo Hope that doesn't last enough to keep you going and she needs to cash in while she can.

So good for her. Get paid that much. She'll move to a new club and love them too.
