The afl has become corrupt in the past few years and the highest priority for the afl is who can give them the most money. The statistics have shown that crowds have dropped of and the amount of merchandise that has been bought including jumpers etc has also dropped.

Is this not due to the rising ticket prices and ridiculous prices of jumpers etc made by the likes of FILA, NIKE and ADIDAS.

You are dead right, Millsy. The AFL is, without a doubt, one of the most corrupt institutions in Australia.

There's an old saying ... Money doesn't talk, it swears.

The AFL is very much on the nose.

I was interested to read today that the State parliament is trying to bring in legislation to stop Grand Final ticket scalping. I can tell you now that they've got no hope in hell of getting it through the Upper House. The AFL and the Clubs survive by scalping. You can bet your bottom dollar that the AFL will get their Liberal Party stooges in the Upper House to block the anti-scalping legislation just like the VFL did in 1989.

Money doesn't talk ... It swears.

The AFL is not corrupt, it's too incompetant to manage any kind of corruption.

What the AFL is guilty of is complete mismanagement and an inability to be proactive.

I heard that attendances overall were actually up this year. OK some teams attendances might have dropped, but that always happens when a team isn't achieving on the field. I wish they could get rid of scalping but it has been going on for so long, I can't see how you can legislate against it, it's supply & demand. If people stopped buying tickets off scalpers they would soon stop, because they would end up getting stuck with the tickets.

Whatever they are, corrupt or guilty of mismanagement there is certainly something wrong. The $ has become too important and so the service is suffering. Lets stop the price hike and get back to good old Aussie rules that is affordable for everyone. A good seat costs so much, especially in WA. I went to the derby and it cost heaps and my freind went to a game in Melbourne and got 5 people in to good seats for half the price of good seats for 2 people here.

Yeah, we really get ripped off here, but it's because they know they can get away with it, there are more people who want to go to games than can fit in. I also think the weagles are too money hungry with their merchandising, changing strips all the time so supporters have to keep buying new jumpers, if they were my team I would be really annoyed, plus they will never have tradition if they don't settle for one strip.

i totally agree with u there i have a relo who is high up in the jumper making business, and every year they have to sell all these unwanted weagle jumpers just because the weagles wanna add another revolting colour or another little strip or different eagle icon! There is no tradition in that, they are like the versace of the afl always wanting to keep up with fashion
