Inclined to see things what ways?Karen memes were all about middle aged white women when they started so you could add the racist ism to the mix if you were inclined to view things that way.
Karen memes and tiktoks areeoften hilarious. The instant video capture age we are in highlights behaviors that have gone undocumented for years
Exactly this. The rules on these things are quite clear, those exclusively against white people can't be sexist or racist, so I don't see how it can be if it's a slur directed at white women?
lot of racism and sexism in this thread chief. I told you this would happen.
time to ban the phrase karen.
or make no words/phrases bannable.
be consistent
Social Justice Karen is on the job.
Lol I copy pasted seeds' reply from earlierGood luck with that in the age of identity politics.
It's offensive because it's old and tired and has run its course.
Its worse then the n word which didnt actually suggest there was negative behaviour connotations to the colour of your kin. The word Karen sugests there is NEgative bheaviour connotations to skin and gender. Its disgusting. the only reason you dont think so is because of safety in crowds. Reported.nope...it’s part of world lexicon now and here to stay
No you have it completely wrong. Its fine for someone to come up with a word for a certain type of negative behaviour. Its not fine to attribute that behaviour to a gender or race. That is what hate speech is. This is worse then just racism. Its hate speech. Its like people in the past attributing greed to jews. You are attributing a negative behaviour to race and sex. It's definitely a gendered label, but it's really about the people who display their entitlement in public outbursts.
It sucks if people who have genuine reasons for objecting to certain treatment, or a particular state of affairs, cop the label.
I'm guessing Karens want 11 games played at Kat Park?
Lol I copy pasted seeds' reply from earlier
Atleast you are using the phrase karen to represent intelligent thinking in this case rather than negative behaviour. Its a small step in the right direction. still sexist and racist though.I'm guessing Karens want 11 games played at Kat Park?

BBC News - Should it be Burma or Myanmar?
news.bbc.co.uk
...The ruling military junta changed its name from Burma to Myanmar in 1989, a year after thousands were killed in the suppression of a popular uprising. Rangoon also became Yangon.
The Adaptation of Expression Law also introduced English language names for other towns, some of which were not ethnically Burmese.
The change was recognised by the United Nations, and by countries such as France and Japan, but not by the United States and the UK.
A statement by the (U.K's) Foreign Office says: "Burma's democracy movement prefers the form 'Burma' because they do not accept the legitimacy of the unelected military regime to change the official name of the country. Internationally, both names are recognised..."

You sound like the type of person who still yells out "taxi!" whenever someone spills their drink.
It is obviously gendered. That doesn't mean it is not apt.It seems sexist to me, in the same way that 'mansplaining' is. These labels are affixed to people of a particular gender, although there are exceptions, so that becomes one of the main ways of judging someone's behaviour. You're less likely to be called a Karen as a man, less likely to have your complaint dismissed on that basis.
Julia Baird has written an article about the sexist Karen meme, and others have also criticised the label, but it still seems to be accepted. Mostly because women who complain are just called Karens.
Defenders of this meme would say that it only applies to certain types of women, however imo it leaves the door open to prejudice against anyone of a particular sex who has a complaint, whether it's justified or not.

shazza
the australian word for trailer trash/white trash unclassy women. On rare occassions used as a condensed nickname for someone named Sharon, but most of the time, its a descriptive term, to warn others of trashy women in the vicinity.
guy: this chick, she would've been a good catch except for one thing...
friend: she was a bit of a Shazza?
guy: yeh.
*The masculine version of this name is Bazza- obviously a nick name for Barry, but more commonly used for describing Shazza's inbred partner.
