No - the biggest issue is how the game can continue to spend more than it is collectively earning without sacrificing one or more of the financially weak Victorian teams. Or put another way, how can expenditure and income be brought in line and how can the AFL help the clubs currently struggling to survive and prosper while ensuring they are not wasting money on saving a situation that cannot be saved.

Absolutely. The cap is merely part of a system constructed ad hock by wanna be heros tagging onto footy coatstrings that is unsustainable. The unsustainability of the competition when they have received record bradcast rights is the only issue of any importance at the moment.

No its just a diversion by McChins and Crispy M&M's to excuse a grand final loss, and the loss of a homesick lad.
Yet they said before all of that happened. Yet they are not the only ones saying it. Yet their club is well placed financially and player wise to be one of the survivors, indeed prosperers of the coming new era of survival mode football club management.

seems people WANT us to make excuses for the GF loss. everyone is making them for us yet we havent ourselves. brissy were better. collingwood, melbourne, essendon, hawthorn, undoubtedly bullies and roos, saints etc have all had a crack at it at one point or another. in eddie's case, for the past 18 months. ie, well before anyone outside the club even believed we could make a finals series, let alone a GF.

not particularly the biggest issue. THe AFL have got bigger issues in keeping some of the smaller clubs afloat.

Was the difference in Brisbane and Sydney's salary cap a unilateral, bilateral or trilateral decision within the Commission?

I.e. did Brisbane alone, or Brisbane in cahoots with Sydney or was it all three who decided on the much-vaunted salary cap advantage?

Or, and this is a remote possiblity, was it a decision taken by the Commission, with the consent of a majority of the sixteen clubs?

I truly don't know, but I suspect that it was a decision reached with the consent of a majority. If this is so, the way to change the situation would be to alter, or reverse that vote. So rather than whingeing about it on here, ad nauseum, go out and change the balance of votes. If you succeed in this, good luck to you.

It is huge. Notice Essendon & Melbourne have now spoken out about the salary cap issue after being forced to trade players
