Is the top 4 set?

Anybody else reckon the Dees will finish 3rd or 4th and play Freo or Lions away? If this happens I can see them losing the QF and maybe go out in straight sets which would be a laugh. They have the hardest run home, I think it’s like 7 top 8 sides left to play or something.

Maybe they do what Richmond did in 2018 and get rocked in a prelim but can't see them losing both finals. Melbourne will be fine. You want to be playing your best football a month after the bye.

We won’t play them, I think we’ll both finish 7th and 8th.
Then back to my first question who will you kick out of the top 8 if you think the Saints will make it?

Not sure. Depends on the form and injuries. If we played Dees tomorrow I’d tip us to win if that means anything. I also think we will beat Carlton tomorrow. If that happens we could beat anybody at our best imo up until the prelim where he would probably play lions or Freo and lose.

Even if both of our sides finished 7th and 8th I’d say we are both comfortably in the 4 to 6 ranged sides just because of the experience in both lists. Most interesting ladder in years tbh

Looks as unset as I can recall...
Nine rounds still to come...

Top 3 is close to set, but 4th is up for grabs from a pool of about 6 different teams depending on the results of this upcoming July.

Top 3 is close to set
Not even close.
Melbourne and Brisbane still have to play each other twice and Fremantle have to play Melbourne.
So Melbourne itself has three more matches of teams in top three at the moment.

The opposition is certainly tough, but playing the next 8 games at Optus or Marvell, before GWS in Rd23, is as good a run home as we could realistically hope for!

I've got Geelong, Brisbane, Melbourne, Richmond finishing top 4. All a win and percentage ahead of Freo and then Carlton, so if they split the games just slightly from what I've got I still think they'll finish there. Have the Pies and Suns missing out of the finals contenders on 13 wins.. Adelaide spoon worthy side in many years, so extra wins for mid range teams when you have teams like North and West Coast (maybe better in the 2nd half) likely to be 1-3 win teams.

Given the draws remaining and current form I have

Brisbane
Geelong
Richmond
Fremantle
Sydney
Carlton
Melbourne
Collingwood

Saints 9th
Dogs 10th

I am sure the Dee's will rebound at some stage but still concerned about their scoring ability and remaining fixture can easily see them dropping out of the 4 purely because Richmond and Geelong have easier fixtures. All it takes is a couple of injuries and everything can change just like that.

Most even season in a long time, no stand out side could easily have a couple of sides miss top 4 due to percentage.

Collingwood are the sleeper side here, they have a good draw and could finish in the top 4 if results fall there way.

Max Gawn is a huge out for the Dees, will prob cost them top 4. Gold Coast will make the 8.

I reckon it’ll go:

1. Freo

2. Winner of Lions v Dees

3. Loser of Lions v Dees

4. Winner of Cats v Tigers

So no Chance of Fremantle losing to Carlton I’m guessing ?

I think Freo will win but even if they don’t I still think they will finish as minor premiers. They still have some good players coming back from injury as well.

I can't believe how even this one is, a few weeks ago Melbourne were flying and had top spot in the bag, and 3 weeks later some doomsdayers said with a bad run they could miss the 8! I don't buy into that, but looking at their draw they're going to have to play damn well to finish 1st now. 3rd-4th is more likely IMO.

Love the optimism being shown towards my mob but as a very long term member and going to as many games as I can, I don’t think we are playing overly well. I’ll be shocked if we get near the top 4 based on current form. A win on Saturday and we are a chance but not confident at all.

That's because nearly ever one of our top 22-25 players has been good this year. It's been the difference, a very even performance from all.

That’s how good teams do it. I just hope you guys don’t get the yips in finals. You guys winning the flag but Fyfe not getting the norm Smith would be good for me. Can’t have him catching Dusty

Brayshaw will probs win it anyway if you guys win it tbh. Such a gun.
