Happily giving away a contracted player for a second-rounder is indicative of being desperate to hang onto him.
Geelong was desperate to keep Kelly last year. Compare the way they handled that situation with how they handled the Caddy one.
When a player is contracted, it's not really about whether the player's current club is desperate to keep them. There can be no desperation in that situation. It's a matter of wanting the player or not, and Geelong did not want Caddy.

Little known fact that you can take to the bank. Cats players hated Caddy. He was told by Matty Scarlett that if he didn’t actively pursue a trade, he’d meet the same fate that Justin Murphy met (at the hands of scarlo on a mad Monday) as GC fans have noted, he’s a flog of the highest order and was universally hated by the playing group. Supporters similarly were happy to see the back of him.
Back to the thread at hand. He has a tatt of a 7.5/10 on his leg, which maybe you could understand IF HE HAD EVER EVEN MET HER ONCE. But he hasn’t. That how pathetic this little downhill skiier truly is
