oh my hat im a bit of a district cricketer follower and there is plenty of young batting talent there but for some reason the selectors wont try anything new, they keep playing blokes like peake, craig etc
names like taylor, sheedy, berger are all good enough but cant get a game

The same can be said about the Sydney Grade Cricket scene. There ar some magnificent cricketers going around.
Rodney Davison got dropped and for some strange reason can't get back in the team even though he scored 964 (2nd most runs in 1st grade) runs at 64.27 (3rd best average in 1st Grade).
Rowan Brester scored 691 runs at 43.19, still only 20.
Andrew Sainsbury scored 871 runs at 56.00.
Paul Jaques scored 775 runs at 48.44 and has been consistently averaging around this for 3 years now and he is till only 20.
Now for the bowlers:
Ian Salisbury - 36 wickets at 10.31.
Stuart Clarke - 37 wickets at 12.54.
James Le Huray - 43 wickets at 17.95.

I could garauntee you that the Sydney Grade Cricket side, would be able to beat the NSW state team (excluding test players). Their selection policy is redicilous at best. No wonder so many promising players leave NSW. There was about 20 players playing first class cricket last season who have played in the Sydney Grade Competition, and didn't play for NSW last season.
And the bloody selectors wonder whats going on.

Look at this list straight of the top of my head of players who played in the Sydney Grade Competition:
Adam Gilchrist (WA)
Simon Cook (victoria) (finished f/c cricket 2 season ago)
Stuart Karpinnen (WA)
Steve Nikitaris (WA)
Matthew Nicholson (WA)
Shane Dietz (SA)
Andrew Downton (Tas)
Damien Wright (Tas)

No that i got that of my chest about how pissed of i am with NSWCA i just thought i would show you a list of some of the best youngsters in Sydney:
James Le Huray, Rowan Brester and Paul Jaques - already mentioned above, just 20 years old.
Ed Cowan - awesome left handed batter, saw him bat last weekend, scored 90-odd, played in the u/19 WC.
Cameron Nupier - playing first grade at just 16 years old. Fastest 16 year old in NSW. Played against my boy last season, and i thought he was going to die. Useful slogger, scored 90 in one Green Shield (under 16) game last season.
Jermey Thackray - playing second grade at 16 years old. I thought my boy was going to die facing Nupier, then Thackray came on from the other end, hes the second fastest 16 year old in NSW. Those 2 made an awesome opening bowling combination for their club team.
Michael Bright - Plays in the same team as Nupier and Thackray. Brilliant batsmen (2nd leading runscorer in Green Shield last season, scored 101 not out when we played them, very good bowler coming 6th in the Green Shield wickettakers last season.
Peter Dugmore - brilliant young batsmen. made the NSW under 16's in cricket. Also made the NSW under 16's in AFL. Very talented sportsmen.
Jim Day - this kid is special. He made the combinded Green Shield XI. Basically thats the Sydney under 16 XI, and he was still only 14.he scored 243 runs at just over 30. Great talent. Big chance of being the NSW under 16 captain this season.

WCE2000,

Davison's had heaps of chances for NSW and never comes up with the goods.

I think the selectors are justifiably sick of giving him chances.

Actually, Davisons record with NSW is not all that bad. His F/C average is 35.00, which isn't great, but is better than Greg Mail's (29.00), Greg Hayne (20.00) and Corey Richards (career average - 34.00, 99/00 average - 20.00).
Plus Rodney Davison's technique is so much more sound than the other two. Greg Mail has a shocking technique, hes all over the shop.

There is a cricket version of BigFooty.com in the pipeline. I'll announce it here first when it is up and running. That way BigFooty.com members can jump in and get their screen names on the as yet nameless cricket site first.

While you're all waiting for Bluey's cricket site to be setup, why don't you check out my cricket site - The Pitch - and the Forum?
Sure, the forum is not nearly as active as this one, but at least it is setup, unlike the CricInfo one. I will update The Pitch soon.

The Vics had their traditional batting collapse yesterday. I can expect that. But I don't expect Warnie to be bowling pies (full tosses), or hitting them back to his fellow leggie, MacGill.
