...who really likes the look of the port guernsey today?
not just the front, but also the back....for those who havent seen, port have a plain black back, without any sponsor logos.

Makes for a great old-school looking guernsey...almost reminds me of SOO.

any thoughts?

It actually did look good without a sponsor on the back. All teams should do that!:p

Yeh I like the new design and it looks great without the dirty great big sponsor on the back.

What the deal with Adelaide wearing their home jumper with away shorts i thought they would've worn their crappy new away jumper??

Agree with you there mate; have never liked sponsors logos altogether, make the guernsey look cheap IMO. notice a big league like the NBA doesnt have them?

As for the Crows wearing their home jumper, this has got me as well...I guess it must be their NAB cup jumper.

Yeah I thought it looked really good.

As for the crows with white shorts and the home guernsey, I thought maybe it could have just been decided who the 'home' team was from a cointoss and port won. Isn't the home guernsey being used for most games this year except for clash games when the white guernsey will be used?

I think it's remarkable what a difference even that one sponsor logo can make to a jumper - watching pre-90s games with no back sponsor just makes them seem so much cleaner.
Yeh definatly. The haircuts are great aswell :cough:GaryAyres:cough::p

Maybe. I dunno about Adelaide and the home/clash jumper situation, but that's what should happen with every club you only wear a clash if you clash away from home. For example Port wearing their white clash against Geelong or Norths, it happened a couple of time last year and its just plain stupid

I liked the look of it without a sponsor. Really made the black stand out, rather than a big white sponsor breaking up the look of the back. It looks more professional without the sponsors IMO.

Soccer uniforms are the worst with the sponsors taking up so much space, looks terrible.

American leagues (NBA, NHL, NFL and MLB) look much more classy and professional with no sponsors logos on their uniforms at all.

I think it's a case where once you start, you can't stop. That is, if the AFL never allowed sponsor logos on jumpers there would not be demand for it and more revenue would go into signage at games and alike. However, now that there is the option of having a logo on a jumper, sponsors wouldn't want that taken away.

interesting point.
I'd rather see advertising on the hoardings than on jumpers...not only does it free up space, but often it means the banners look better.

There is no chance that we will ever see no sponsorship on guernseys. What I would like to see though is a little bit of leniency from the sponsor. For example, the back of the crows guernsey with the yellow toyato logo. Looks much better than an oversize white box with toyota written in red or black like the sponsor usually does.

How I would like to see the Eagles;

It still stands out, it looks better, it pleases the supporters - something you would think sponsors would want to do. They could even use the red i if they wanted still, just looks better yellow.

But in return stuff like the TV broadcast becomes horribly over-commercialised. I'd rather have sponsors on jumpers than more ad breaks and promotional garbage.

I completely agree.

It annoys me how the Hankook logo on the front of the Melbourne jumper has a lot of wasted white space. The previous Primus logo was good as it did not have a border, but still stood out on the jumper.

The Kaspersky Lab logo on the back has been changed so that it doesn't have a border, it still stands out and looks much better.

Current jumper with Hankook logo:

couldn't agree more, mate. Sticking a big white Hankook logo over the Demons jumper is sickening. I'm not a massive fan of the Dees, but the jumper is the symbol of the club, and I can see how it'd be a slap in the face to the members.

The Demons jumper is an amazing design.

But yeah I pointed out to my old man that it's obviously not favorable to not have a second sponsor yet, but the backs of our jumpers looked outstanding, and hopefully whoever gets on there don't have a massive ugly block. What I didn't like was how the My ATM logo has light green text on a white patch making it completely unreadable in day matches and is frankly too big anyway, need to make the text darker or inverse the colors if they want to actually advertise IMO...

Also prefer the Crows jumper with the hoops going all the way around.

Agree totally with those who say that the sponsor logo should be doing whatever it can to fit in with the look of the guernsey and not be a massive patch that cuts into the guernseys design. Every time a sponsor logo is done right it looks much, much better.
